Specifically it is the frequency-based keyboard layout of traditional hot-metal Linotype machines. If you made a typo, the custom was to fill up the spoiled slug by running your finger down the etaoin shrdlu rows, and start fresh on the next slug. On rare occasions the layout clerk would accidentally let a shrdlu slug go to press, to the amusement of the readership.
Telegraph operators ranked the letters as etaonrish.

Unfortunately the 1970s ST animated series gave us the 'trapped in the holodeck' story format. The TNG writers leaned a little too heavily on it.

Recording the TLS session doesn't work. The content is only authenticated with a symmetric session key. The content is not signed by the server's private key.

After it was discovered that radiation was the result of atoms randomly decaying over long periods of time, there was speculation about making them release all their energy at once. There were sci-fi stories in the 'teens and 20s about discovering a ray that could be shined on radioactive material to make it go foof. There was no concept of neutrons, critical mass, or slamming hemispheres together. The idea was that the bomb residue would be nonradioactive because it all decayed.

Interesting that many of the early steam mills used a steam engine to pump water into a water tower, which then drove a conventional water wheel to power the millworks.

In particular a large number of Jacobite refugee families settled in Normandy after 1691. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_of_the_Wild_Geese

It sounds like there were two different factions within the museum: one which intended to scan all the works and put 2D and 3D scans and models online, and one which did not want any scans to be released. The grants were obtained by Group A; Group B seems to have veto power.
