Paying a private company so you can pay the government.

You guys need to raise your expectations.

Re:GPT4 hallucinating a FTP server at ftp.disney.com on Wednesday April 05, 2023 @03:13AM (#35450469)
I had it hallucinate an async google cloud storage Java library at me yesterday. Pretty quick to debunk but a bit puzzling!
With enough saved input/output data, maybe some parts could even be replaced by a ml model?

Not 100% serious but then again seems like serious resources are put into this problem, so maybe worth a try

Re:Rust: “Explain GATs Like I'm 5 Years Old” on Monday November 07, 2022 @10:22AM (#33506936)
I’ve seen this concept being talked about for a couple of days now. I even read the Reddit thread this morning.

But until now I didn’t know what the letters stand for. Thank you.

Death to abbreviations!

Re:How I went about learning Rust on Friday July 15, 2022 @06:31AM (#32106673)
I’m on a similar track. Web/java background and started doing some tutorials and aoc, currently working on the the same ray tracer challenge book (it’s awesome). Not sure what a next step would be, maybe that one book where you implement a web browser or some raspberry pi project. Any recommendations?
Re:The Floppotron 3.0 on Tuesday June 14, 2022 @04:41AM (#31736247)
Was thinking the same! They should do a tour where they play music but also talk about how it all works, q&a etc.
I just wish more people would adopt clojure and clojurescript. The world would be a better place.

Re:How do unschoolers turn out? (2014) on Wednesday July 15, 2020 @06:38PM (#23853199)
Because all children deserve a decent education where they are not separated by their parents income.

I definitely think desireability needs to be part of the conversation.

I do not have have any data, and maybe you are correct.

But I am not claiming to answer a research question. To answer the research question, you need a better method.

I am just pointing out the bias.

Re:How do unschoolers turn out? (2014) on Tuesday July 14, 2020 @02:38AM (#23829191)
Other than some interesting themes and anecdotes, I’d be very careful to draw any conclusions based on the survey.

There are many intuitive reasons why unsuccessfully unschooled people would not answer this survey.

A huge concern with unschooling is lack of social development, and the respondents are found through social networks.

In the worst case, suicide would prevent someone from answering the survey.

The title is misleading because the survey can’t possibly answer the question with a survey like this, and without addressing the issue of equal opportunity, which might be the biggest factor when designing education.

Re:A History of Clojure [pdf] on Friday June 05, 2020 @01:36PM (#23431310)
Sometimes when we have created things with code, we wipe the sweat from our foreheads and feel proud because it was kind of hard.

Usually when I have created something with clojure I feel disappointed because it was so easy.

Re:Guide to Starting with Clojure on Sunday April 05, 2020 @04:29AM (#22784490)
I think this guide is great! If we want people to use clojure we can’t impose emacs on them too. This guide introduces clojure from where most developers are at.
I enjoy and support the systems mentioned in the article, but the right to unpaid leave was used by Daniel Ek, Markus Persson or Niklas Zennström as far as I know.
I think the framereate is what makes it feel more vivid. I didn’t experience that big of a difference with regards to resolution.
I loved this story. In 2016 I glanced out of a window of a train between holyhead and liverpool and saw the ship sitting there. I had no idea.
