Re:Norway to allow mining waste to be dumped in fjords on Saturday January 13, 2024 @02:43PM (#38983757)
"Friends of the Earth Norway" and "Nature and Youth" weren't personally affected by "mining waste being dumped in fjords" (if this is what really is happening). This is not a case of people who can't afford to have the law solve an injustice they are suffering. This is a case of people who wanted to spend some money on some principled stand... well, having principles costs money. Why should every Norwegian person pay for all of this?
We sell them guns and profit off it... the same we've ever done.

What I'm really afraid of, if these global warming predictions come to pass, is that we will be so stupid that we will let millions of them to come to Europe. See what's already happening in the Mediterranean, etc. That would bring the war here.

And, still, she hasn't sold anything in four months.

"Thinking that as a salesman you have to sell things is an archaic take on sales."

Yes, you can't ask for sources. Either you believe it blindly or stfu.
>One thing is true: U.S. natural gas production was critical for EU survival after Russian gas cuts and is still critical for survival of EU support for Ukraine.

I must be remembering it the other way around: the US provoked the war in Ukraine by providing Ukraine with ammunitions to bomb the civilians in the Donbas for years so when Russia invaded the EU had to rely on the US for their LNG needs. Yes, the EU is that stupid.

Since running a business costs money, the only result that will satisfy organisations like noyb is that companies like Facebook disappear from the EU. You will read many people here in HN openly saying how they would like social media to disappear, not only for themselves, but for everybody else, including those who enjoy it.

"x did bad things, therefore, x is responsible for this other bad thing" is a fallacy.

I've owned several Nexus and Pixel phones and they universally sucked. Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Pixel 2. I think that's all of them. I sent the last one to be fixed under warranty and they basically ignored me for six months (which I spent with no phone) until I threatened to get consumer protection from my country involved.

Yeah yeah, why did I keep buying them? I have no idea. I guess I assumed the rest of Android phones sucked more.
