All well and good if the engineers want to learn/work with that language. But not everyone does. I’ve left jobs over forced decisions like this.
Then he sold four hair dryers and was all even stevens the next day.
Title should be “I want to whine about JavaScript”
You’re not supposed to watch videos. You’re supposed to sit there and sniff your own farts, like Stallman.
I agree. I read through this and, despite being able to speak to most of the points, my first thought was "this is not a group of people I want to work with."
You should visit Ukraine. Ha

This was a great post. I remember playing LORD and writing doors in turbo pascal back in high school. Thanks for posting!
Of course they couldn't use vim, they'd have to tell everyone.
They need to do this with morrissey.

I'm assuming you've never been to a country that doesn't have tipping, or were shielded from service in such a country, if you were. Customer service in these places is horrible. Why? Because it makes no difference to them if you are pleased or not. They could care less.
If doing some simple math is so difficult, your phone has a calculator, or ask for a pen and paper.
Do you attend a lot of paid conferences that stream live for free in real time? That must be cool.

I've been working with web technology and programming since the mid-1990s. I love learning new technologies, solving challenging problems and sharing what I've learned with others. I'd like to work with others who feel the same and are willing to share their experience with me and vice versa.
Loving it so far! Thanks for all your hard work.
If they are, wow. That heroku one is definitely one of their swag shirts - I got one at an Amazon event.
There is rampant blocking of religious freedom in Russia - online and in real life, enforced by government and England's by the Orthodox Church. It is a regime and it is a tyranny.

I feel your pain. But, really, that sounds like a typical junior starting point, at least to me. It's a major pain but most places aren't going to put a newly hired junior on a major project his/her first time at bat.
Consider it a learning experience, and make yourself available when/if other projects are mentioned. If nothing else, consider it training for a future position. Quitting right away will only look bad down the road to future employers.
Probably two very large factors have to do with Google being the force behind angular, and the fact that you can inject it into existing pages. Whereas with ember, you more or less need to build from scratch with ember.
Personally, I prefer ember myself. I find angular very awkward and slow. I agree with you, ember doesn't get the respect it deserves.
Because front end is so much more than vanilla html css etc. You have Sass, handlebars, svg and more to deal with. If you only use the basics, maybe a simpler solution works for you. But calling the others into question just because they don't work for you is pedantic.
What's a good shim - the best - to make this work? We're using autocompletes for a project and I've yet to find a good poly fill for it.
I'm with you. I don't have either fb not Twitter, and I can't sign up for medium (or product hunt) without them. Lame.
I'd say quality over quantity. If someone turns out terrible code at four times the rate you turn out decent code, s/he's doing more harm then good. Sometimes I browse the Internet for twenty minutes, hunker down and write something marvelous. It's just being ready for the moment.
You changed leading zeros in the body, but in the to; dr at the end you didn't.
Great document!
I didn't seem to catch it but it stands to mention that Santa and most everything about Christmas don't have any Christian origin, so yes, the concept does occupy a strange place because it's not cohesive to Christianity, but rather pre Christian paganism.
