I’d argue these are a wholly distinct category of thing than the concepts associated with the words UAP/UFO. Surely there exist experimental aircraft, and that may be of interest to specialists in intelligence and military fields and may be worth an entry in some niche osint blog now and then. Other than that, anything that can be seriously said about uap/ufo belongs in psychology journals.
Re:Aliens.gov Live on Friday May 29, 2026 @03:27AM (#48320144)
There is nothing about UAP that can be serious.
Will it need bailing out or will it take everyone’s jobs? The opposition to AI needs to make up their mind.
I think I watched more Italian Brainrot than all other video content combined
I hear that attitude about AI is much more positive in China. So people like him, in aggregate, could potentially be a danger and cause the US to give up the lead for the rest of century. Takes one bad election..

> Most of what people value in public life is supported by taxes

Citation needed. If you value something paid for by taxes you should pay for yourself. Feel free to pool your money with all the other people of value the same thing - should be easy if it's most people.

The tax cuts are fine, the only issue is funding them by deficit spending. The government services/entitlement should be cut instead.

Re:France's homegrown open source online office suite on Saturday February 07, 2026 @10:26AM (#46924595)
No a bad thing if you desire the corporate power to eventually become the main force shaping the world :)
Re:France's homegrown open source online office suite on Saturday February 07, 2026 @10:01AM (#46924400)
Hard imagining well designed web app bottlenecked by server-side processing that is not offloaded to database, or done via bindings to libraries written in compiled languages.

> solutions written in dynamic programming languages like PHP and Python are always woefully slow

True as it may be that they are slow, I doubt it's caused by the use of dynamic programming languages.

> The money should be secured immediately that cannot be touched by the upcoming governments. It should increase taxes. Independence has a price. We as Europeans should be ready to pay it.

You do you, but increasing taxes to build products to replace products built by private enterprise sounds like a 180 degree opposite of what Europe needs to prosper.

Is this what life in Europe has come to?
Aeron chair - nothing special, could have done with a 10x cheaper ikea chair

Can't they get out and kill the Ubers already instead of sitting in the lot? (half-serious, but I have been wondering what are the reasons they don't just push the price towards zero during low hours?)

It's just aging. If you were aware of tech climate in the 2010s, means you are past 30 years old and getting jaded. Young people are very enthusiastic about the AI.

That doesn't matter for the op's point. Students starting from this base won't get good in 4 years.

I actually see a large stream of people moving to the US. Europe is doomed.

Re:How the AI Bubble Will Pop on Thursday October 02, 2025 @07:48AM (#45448429)
When your work consists of writing stuff disconnected from reality it surely helps to have it written automatically.
Re:How the AI Bubble Will Pop on Thursday October 02, 2025 @07:44AM (#45448396)
So just the “it’s different this time” mentality shared by all bubbles. Some things never change.
It can also be very difficult to get one if you are non-citizen.
Re:Ask HN: Has anyone else been unemployed for over two years? on Saturday September 20, 2025 @11:21AM (#45314101)
I wish.. must be incredibly liberating and relaxing to be off for two years or more. Living the life of an XVIIIth century aristocrat just with more material comforts and less status.
