I'm making a carbon fiber bicycle using 3D printed tools, you can see the process so far here: https://www.instagram.com/vapourcycles/
Re:Ask HN: What do you use instead of Gmail? on Thursday March 01, 2018 @06:23AM (#16491134)
I have built and have been using this for a few years now: https://github.com/adaline/dockermail
I have just moved to Berlin a month ago. If you have no family/other commitments in UK, I feel the threshold of reasons to leave UK has been crossed already.
This reminds me of the "Da Vinci" virus form Hackers movie, which threatens to capsize an oil tanker fleet. Who would have thought that movie was so visionary!

I assume this also means support for Rails 5's ActionCable.

Im not sure why George Osborne is going to talk about self-driving trucks in the Budget speech... Is he dropping phat-stacks of the budget on this programme to make the two related somehow?
Re:UK government pushing ahead with surveillance powers bill on Wednesday March 02, 2016 @05:56AM (#11209190)
I often thought this in the past, but I found that if you stop supporting your side - the vacuum is quickly filled with the opposition. Any effort on your behalf to support your views, however little, will have a big effect.
Re:UK government pushing ahead with surveillance powers bill on Wednesday March 02, 2016 @05:49AM (#11209167)
Do you have some evidence to support any of this? Sounds like a collection of easy to repeat lines... I say this because I have actually tried to get a homeless person into a shelter once, only to be told that half them were closed down due to funding cuts, the rest needed a lengthy referral procedure or a £20 payment for the night - aka a normal hostel. And all this was possible because I had a smartphone on me with internet to look up and call various places. A homeless person without such access has very little chance!

Very glad its useful to you, I'm currently doing lots of development on the project so look out for updates.
Re:Why Ferrari engineers don't like turbos on Saturday January 10, 2015 @11:48AM (#8867099)
This article strikes me more of an ode to Ferrari then factually correct info on why turbos are bad. As many have mentioned technology can be used to iron out the pitfalls of the turbo boost, perhaps Ferrari engineers feel the pressure from Maclaren's new turbo fleet and need to justify their failure ;)

Hello, im currently freelancing after coming back to UK, but looking for something interesting to do. Would love to work on audio stuff for the web, combines my love for music and technology.

I have largely been building web based systems, from straight up apps to various data processing and acquisition systems for back end services.

I specialise in building system which make people happy, rather than sweat over side-effects in my functions (which is awesome as well!) - this I believe makes me great for front end work and MVP projects.

Really though, as long as we make cool new things and take pride in our work - who cares what we build!

Taiwan/UK, Remote, Contract | Part Time

Stack: Rails, Js, C++, Go, Lua, Shell, Design, Audio, I love everything!

Resume:http://v-a-l.co.uk

Contact: arkhipov.valentin@gmail[com]

I am moving back to UK in a couple of months and looking for a new job, currently I have about 15 hours a week available but when I move back will be more. I love solving problems in creative ways, to me programming is an art form and I strive for perfection in function and form.

Working on updating http://mixbolt.com/ , DJ tool in the browser.

I hope it lets lots of people enjoy their music without having to download or pirate expensive software. I have recently open sourced it and looking for help on the project: https://github.com/adaline/mixbolt

I have made a t-shirt generator (http://sonarcore.com) in a similar attempt at a passive income. It took me much longer than a weekend to build but anyway. I'm very anxious to wait to see how your project goes :)
Re:Web Audio API comes to Firefox on Wednesday July 10, 2013 @10:23AM (#6019792)
I have made something a little more advanced with Web Audio: http://mixbolt.com Cant wait to have support on all the browsers (especially mobile) :)
Re:HTML5 DJ App (Google Chrome only) on Thursday April 04, 2013 @12:40PM (#5493591)
No worries :) I have been trying to find some music on netlabel scene for a while and alot of it is not suitable for this (people really love producing minimal techno!). I came across Cut which don't have much in the catalogue but its very well made. Will have to have another search around, music as you said is very important for this.

Thanks for all the feedback, i have been very anxious after posting it out there so its great to get something back, especially helpful comments like yours :)

Hey, i am the developer. Yeah the music is abit narrow in genre but good music is hard to come by, especially without hefty licensing fees. In time this problem will go away :)

Yeah, definitely agree on the keyboard and midi controller. I am a solo developer of this project and i really wanted to get it out there so have not included alot of stuff i would like to! Again its all just a function of time!

"The train" gives me the chills
Every time design questions come up, design is made out to be some kind of mythical force people ether have or don't. Well that is not the case, design is a discipline like any other and can be thought to anyone willing, just like maths. The mythical force people see as design is what's called art, and is a highly subjective process based on feelings and emotioms, where as design is a logical progression from raw data to workable interface.
