Re:Ask HN: How do you build your personal start page? on Thursday December 02, 2021 @08:24AM (#29415783)
It's called a "home page". You even say that yourself. It's why the browser has a "home" button ... To take you to your (personal) home page. And even before that button and [saved] bookmarks, you had to have some place that contained your personal bookmarks. It was the page you set your browser to load when you opened it. And you did absolutely make it yourself (it was the first webpage I ever made).

The main/first page of a website was the "frontpage" to its visitors (but it surely felt like a home page to the owner - and it may have been).

In any web event, I think you will be best served by plain old html. It will be faster (in nearly all ways) than next.js or Gatsby.

The ISS is actually a TIE fighter?!
I can't get my [knowledge-based authentication] data back. I don't want their measly $125 from them (it will cost me far more time and money when this breach is used against me). I want them to pay the cost for the government to replace the SSN as an identifier. And to pay for the government give me a new SSN in the meanwhile... and they don't get to store the new SSN in their database (because they dun messed up). I think that would be a better outcome for everyone.
Re:New iPhone SE on Wednesday April 15, 2020 @01:30PM (#22880548)
You say "As a current iPhone SE user... Lack of headphone jack is still unacceptable"

But you're a current user... so clearly you accepted it. And as long as you do (accept it, keep buying phones without headphone jacks) why would anyone change? The message you are sending (in the only way they care about $$$) is that you do in fact accept phones without headphone jacks.

Just reading what you're writing...

Re:Bored? How about trying a Linux speed run? on Sunday April 12, 2020 @08:36AM (#22847837)
I recently discovered after reinstalling Linux Mint on my Dell XPS (that shipped with Ubuntu) that is not an option "out of the box". On my previous interest I used to have that option. Now I'm not sure where it's gone so I do (very sadly) only have the option to "disable touchpad when mouse is connected." Please help!

She lied. It is far from being the world's only $2,500 clothes rack.
"system halts"

That's one heck of an analogy! Brutal
