Looks really nice. Would be nice if the language % also included closed projects. (and bitbucket always gets to little love :-))

If you too find d3 very difficult, have a look here: nvd3 creates boilerplate examples for typical graphs. It's almost plug and play: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4366018

Very nice, for what little I can see. One of those loonies who have deleted my facebook account. I have twitter, openID etc.
Podio is in Denmark. Send them a line.

Re:Dropcanvas - An extremely simple file sharing site. on Friday May 18, 2012 @05:00AM (#3990969)
That's really intuitive and simple. Love it... This for small things like pictures and documents, ge.tt for big things.
Re:Show HN: my Mac app just got fireballed on Wednesday May 09, 2012 @07:07AM (#3947973)
On mac I use Clipmenu[1]. While dragondrop is certainly intuitive and clever, I personally dislike the move away from keyboard interaction. Of course we super-users (not my mother) can be more productive with 102 interactionspoints than we can wit 2.

Any ways - congrats; but not for me :-)

Sorry - I remembered that I on an earlier occasion couldn't find JKM' answer. It's there now - and I personally don't find it convincing. Again - I am a novice and has no authority here. – I'd edit above if I could. I am sorry that I wrote wrong info.

Thanks for the reddit link. As you say it seems to me most of the flak is from not agreeing on something. But can an oppinion be correct?

And yes: Mitsuhiko seems to be a super cool, clever and friendly guy. In my last project I played around with request. Lovely it was.

Anyways: my point was not to express that web2py is the greatest thing invented since bacon. Only that I don't understand why the python community dislike it so. After all - web2py makes it very easy to build stuff. Hence it will probably attract people to the language. Hence make it more feasible for webhosts to offer python friendly environments. And that should be a good thing? Especially in the context of OP - "how do PHP guy start with python"?

I have no idea why web2py gotten such a bad rep. I am a beginning webdeveloper and seriously: web2py is a pleasure to work with. Simple to start, deploy, port and hack. It's backwards compatible and has a template language that really is non existant as so far as its pure python.

Compare that to Rails - which is (comparable) hell to set-up and breaks with upgrades etc.

If you want python web development to be simple, web2py is the way to go. Since I don't have a CS degree and I have often been wrong before - there might be a real problem somewhere. But I don't think so. One of the reasons for this is that Jakob Moss removed his web2py bashing from this thread. Didn't edit - removed it: https://www.quora.com/Is-web2py-a-good-Python-web-framework/...

I don't know what I'll use it for - but I like it :D
Re:Ask HN: GetDecided Startup Weekend Copenhagen on Sunday March 25, 2012 @10:17AM (#3752653)
Like it... The pro and cons percentage is not of much use though. Some arguments are good. Others are bad. I would like other users to vote on the validity of each arguments, and then based on that - provide a total score.
This is another reason I so wish cyanogenmod / google / apple will hurry up and 1) Create a guest account for my phone 2) make it possible to disable all background data sharing /synching save for a whitelist. This would both conserve battery and it would be so much easier to decide what applications gets acces to what. E.g. my antivirus wants finegrained location data, but works fine with coarse... (I should really uninstall that antivirus program).
Re:My dad taught me cashflow with a soda machine on Friday October 28, 2011 @06:44AM (#3167726)
A beautiful story. I myself was raised by two academics in safe middle class public sector jobs their whole life. Only at my 30th year did I consider starting my own business. Looking back on friends who started on their own, I do not doubt that either being an entrepreneur is 1) in the bloodline (nature) and in the upbringing (nurture).

I had a wonderful childhood - but I think I would have started my own business much earlier, had I had a father like yours. And it just goes to show, that valuable life lessons does not need to be boring chores and stern rants from the elderly.

Thanks for an inspiring read.

Re:Hello, my name is Reginald and I am a Socialist on Monday October 24, 2011 @02:48PM (#3150961)
The whole idea of capitalism is to make it possible for people like you to experiment with different ways to organize and sell your work. If one method works really well for you - thats great. So I would say you are a capitalist enjoying the freedom in the free market. That includes the freedom to play small "s" socialist.
Re:Unity is the end of Ubuntu on Friday October 21, 2011 @09:43AM (#3139663)
what ever. Linux is about diversity and freedom. I personally don't like the path ubuntu is forking, but hey - it will suit a lot of people fine. And I think it will benefit the linux community that e.g. macolytes and windoves will find gnome3 and unity nice too look at. Then later they can open the pandora box of beastly beauty that is linux.

tl;dr: It's good that ubuntu experiments and lives on the cutting edge. If you don't like it install mint or fedora or debian or arch ...
