Digital markets act in EU Tiktok is a gatekeeper. Special rules apply

I think ai leads to an accounting error in software assets. So if you book keept software at x amount of goodwill that must be written down. Reason ai can clone the software fast so the value is not what is book keeped.

Ddr4 laptops are better There is also DDR5 CU-DIMM in some newer Dell laptops but that is rather rare.

Agree non user service parts is not good for consumers.

Use tools as d search Youtube videos memory upgrade device name before you buy a laptop to check if the memory is user upgradeable without soldering.

Please use full open source Linux distros instead. Then you could update with apt, dnf, pacman etc.
Because a) ai companies are already high valued. b) the showles are not digging gold at the rate claimed

I dont understand the EULA terms how that is compatible vs pushing it to schools?

United nations human rights

"Article 12

No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks."

Ad tech Data fusion violates that right

What is the radio quality like SNR?
Re:Norway Eyes Partial Ban of Smart Glasses on Monday October 05, 2026 @05:44PM (#49971273)
Hope Sweden copies Norway and bans data fusion for ads data sharing glasses.
We should together stop calling devices which film in dressing / locker rooms smart.

These devices record video & sound track serve Ads and do Data fusion

What if you took a cam corder to a locker room? People would be upset, that is not allowed. That would not be nice. This is not nice either

I think to reduce ewaste part it should be mandatory with open firmware and open hardware specifications
glq is a re implementation gpl port of QTIP Trellis encoding of large language models as vLLM plugin. glq is efficient between 2-4 bits per word where it has an edge over scalar quantization. Fit larger LLMs on consumer hardware GPUs. glq extents QTIP up to 8 bits per word by running the original algorithm two times with a residual.

1.Incoherence processing — two-sided randomized Hadamard transform (via FWHT) makes weights ~i.i.d. Gaussian 2. BlockLDLQ rounding — sequential sweep with Hessian error feedback 3. Viterbi encoding — bitshift trellis + computed Gaussian code 4. Decode — stateless bit-shift arithmetic, fused into matmul https://github.com/cnygaard/glq/blob/main/docs/trellis-3inst...

glq comes with a user friendly installer which installs glq, vLLM and gradio chat interface and optionally a local coding agent. If you choose glq-chat glq sizes which model fits in VRAM downloads the model and starts a chat, on a 24GB Nvidia card Gemma4 is choosen. glq also ships with picode and then Qwen 3.8 27B is used.

glq also works on pure CPU. Because the LLM weights are compressed and are decompressed on the fly less DRAM/VRAM bandwidth is used.

The target group of glq is PC gamers with Linux and a Nvidia gaming card. If you happen to have an AMD Epyc 9005 server CPU the cpu encoding/decoding should be usable.

What is the alternative to subscribing to streaming services? Can you purchase your movies online and be guaranteed to have access to the movies in the future?
Re:AirPods 5 on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @02:48PM (#49631918)
You want a replaceable battery because once the battery wears out if the repair is expensive people will throw the used air buds. Used airbuds creates electronic waste ewaste on landfills.

Not all electronic recycling ä works well some non working electronics are shipped to Africa . The "recycler" takes the profit in the pocket. People have put airtags to track where such electronics to goods end up.

Re:216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video] on Monday September 07, 2026 @03:36PM (#49602085)
Can we please agree on calling devices with a cpu and os that spy on the owner smart? I personally think that closed operating systems with spyware is quite dumb for user privacy.
This is the same behaviour as the german secret police in east germany. The difference now its for ads and by tech. All collected data are probably ai transcribed from audio to text and is fused via data fusion to serve ads. Add collaborative filtering to find similar interests between users.

Re:Norway Should Buy OpenAI on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @03:50PM (#49351644)
No it should not it would be better if it saves norweigan retirement funds for the future.
I have written a llm compression quantization library called glq because of the high ram prices. Glq uses qtip Trellis quantization which are efficient at low bpw 2-4 bits. As a gamer and ai developer I want to squeeze more out of the same hardware. Glq runs with vLLM.

Why analog monitors is better. Harder to install spyware. So called by the industry "Smart devices" are dumb for privacy reasons.
Re:Nobody knows what a used GPU cluster is worth on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @02:06PM (#49010946)
Used GPU hosting for pension funds.

You go to ebay search for a used GPU. You get a price.

Neither is used servers a new thing or used routers. There are established used server companies.

This benchmark is probably also self promotion of services. Fireworks happens to make a router. Using the router gets better performance.

Use Picode as an alternative to Opencode
I dont agree for environments sake it should be user replaceable batteries even in small electronic devices. Hearing aids has user replaceable batteries
Isnt there an issue with "Buy" and different countries marketing laws? Ie it implies "Hold" or "TemporaryKeep".

Guess it will be an upswing of BlueRay movies. Already happening with LPs and CDs
