Data driven, personalized typing application.

https://typequicker.com

This was a terrifying read because I initially read about this at the air port in Madrid after taking a Renfe train from Alicante; literally at the same time...just a different line
Re:Dictation that never leaves your Mac on Thursday October 22, 2026 @05:59AM (#50193337)
I don't understand all these dictation tool.

The default mac dictation tool that ships with Mac and every other device has been good for an over ~5yrs

What do these tools have that the apple dictation doesn't. (Aside from marketing)

To me this makes me question the effectiveness of therapist led CBT in general.

I tried therapy online and talking to human therapists might as well have been an LLM. Every response was so generic

Re:I trained a 360M model to pretend to be a terminal on Thursday October 22, 2026 @05:53AM (#50193303)
Yes please. I'm curious
Came here to add this as well.

tmux is probably my favourite tool by far. I highly suggest going through its documentation (even easier with LLMs now) to learn the basics. It's extremely scriptable.

One of favourite uses of it is its 'popup' feature. Combining the tmux popup with fzf creates a crazy opportunity of whats possible.

Highly suggest learning these tools; literally just point an agent at my comment here and ask it what one could do with tmux popup and fzf combined

Re:Someone behind the software on Sunday October 18, 2026 @09:05PM (#50147172)
You described my observation of many products today extremely well!

One interesting care study is Posthog (I felt like it was a labyrinth; using your analogy) - primarily build in an age of LLMs, with a large investment and a large team behind it - it reached this stage:

> one player in a space gets huge, keeps adding features, loses sight of what makes them a good market fit

My first experience using their product (they had a generous free year for new startups) felt like exactly what the author describes. A collection of features.

I think it's just really hard to "not build a feature" and keep a product focused. Whether you're solo or a large team

Re:Someone behind the software on Sunday October 18, 2026 @08:53PM (#50147102)
This is such a good article and absolutely nails what I've been feeling recently.

> The product changes are primarily additive, not improving the core problem.

> I think the reasons for this is that it's lot easier to add new capabilities, than rethink existing capabilities.

> So each product becomes a collection of abilities, without actually having unified point of view.

> I wonder whether some of this comes from how the work is organized. Individuals work with agents to produce changes independently, each operating a small software factory.

I recently left my job and have been working on building a product. And even though I'm solo, I notice it's still very easy to fall into this way of operating. (Even before AI)

Having a clear product vision and sticking in to it; whether its features, design, copywriting, etc is really hard to do consistently over the lifetime of building the product.

I've had to revisit my product direction and realized a year and half in that I've been approaching the problem with a heavy bias of what I think people want vs what I should have been doing and building what people want.

The latter is really hard to do well

> Seriously, if a single politician stepped forward and said "i'll bring down ram prices" they could then shoot a puppy and call me a slur and I'd still go out and doorknock for them.

I spit out my coffee laughing when I read this

How so?
Re:GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @08:34PM (#49902848)
I am convinced the comments after a every model release announcement is just paid posts shilling whatever model provider paid them lol
Re:Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe on Saturday September 26, 2026 @12:45PM (#49858248)
Not sure why this was downvoted. Memory is one of the most important skills imo

Having a good memory enables you to think deeper - if you remember certain concepts, you can reason better because you remember more concepts so your thinking is more in depth.

This is a really good marketing strategy to drive traffic.

Building https://typequicker.com

It's a personalized & data-driven typing application that targets your weak points

Re:IBM Bob on Friday September 04, 2026 @10:22AM (#49565095)
The landing/marketing page for this looks like something someone promoted/vibe coded including the Bob mascot.

Looks awful from a design perspective. Had to double check that this was the actual IBM domain

Re:The Lost Art of Carrying Loads on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @09:17AM (#49535756)
Interesting article.

But I don't know if I am imagining it; I'm starting to feel Claude's (AI) writing everywhere. Like this sentence for example:

> The genius of the gaucho’s system isn’t storage. It’s integration.

The x isn't y. Its z.

Re:typ.ing on Saturday August 22, 2026 @05:28PM (#49404045)
If you want something with more advanced analytics that also targets your weak points, give https://typequicker.com a try.
Here come all the Kagi sponsored comments lol
Re:An Update on Leaving Gmail for Fastmail on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @09:27AM (#49345333)
Have been using Fastmail for the last 2 years for my startup.

Can't speak for other use cases but highly recommend for solo devs and small teams.

Great support, great pricing and never had an issue with their services

Out of curiosity - what space are are in?
Was going to comment this as well.

Re:How Claude's text watermarking works on Friday August 14, 2026 @07:08PM (#49305678)
> human raters comparing watermarked and unwatermarked answers side-by-side saw no difference in quality

Yes - maybe saying "vibes" was minimizing the effort but what I am trying to say is that even the controlled testing is just asking users whether quality is impacted or not. Which is subjective and thats what I meant by when I said "vibes"

Don't get me wrong - I have no idea how one would go about testing this with other methods; I was just stating my assumption.

Since they rolled this out to all users I had assumed there would be other testing involved.

Re:How Claude's text watermarking works on Friday August 14, 2026 @03:54PM (#49303789)
> Google DeepMind tested this impact by serving a model that used watermarking to a portion of their Gemini traffic and comparing thumbs-up and thumbs-down ratings. They found no statistically significant differences from the unwatermarked model. And in a controlled study, human raters comparing watermarked and unwatermarked answers side-by-side saw no difference in quality.

For some reason I had assumed testing this would be more sophisticated than just checking the thumbs up/down stats and user "vibes"

This is great feedback; something I am working on adding next actually :)
Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (August 2026) on Monday August 10, 2026 @09:08AM (#49243139)
Definitely agree!

Something I'm working on next as well is making it more engaging!

Thank you

Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (August 2026) on Sunday August 09, 2026 @02:51PM (#49234384)
Thank you!

I definitely approached it from an engineering perspective - building what I thought was missing in the space that I wanted. In hindsight, it may not be the best business to quit a FAANG job for haha.

> Colemak, Dvorak...

We have these :). Have QWERTZ and British QWERTY as well. Going to add AZERTY next and a few others.

I an also exploring more uniqie/niche ones like Kinesis keyboards, etc.but no plans for this just yet.

> good luck!

Thank you!

Building a modern typing application.

https://typequicker.com

I believe typing is probably one of the most important skills in 21st century for knowledge workers and yet one of the most neglected. Hoping to change that.

Anyone can learn to type fast, without having to think about or look down at the keyboard. We are building the best tool to help people get there quickly

Re:LinkedIn Feed Blocker on Saturday August 08, 2026 @01:32PM (#49223890)
This is awesome. I love tools like these.

Reminds me of DF (Distraction Free) YouTube but for LinkedIn. Tools like these make these platforms usable for me. The feeds are too addictive
