So how will this be fixed?
"Serverless-like" = very much like serverless, but with a server.
Cause the can't get enough software engineers.

The real world isn't an interesting setting for a game.

Ask HN: Should tech giants create their own free universities?

To hoover up vast numbers of people and train them as programmers, project mangers etc (not testers, the world is full of testers). If the universities were not just free, but had lots of other benefits to make them appealing.... and they taught all the development and restored fields to qualify them to work at FB, GOOG ASPL, MSFT, whichever TGU (Tech Giant University) they attend.

This use case is saying "it's a monitor, up close".

Yet another screen doesn't excite me.

You can vote me down but a better way to disagree would be to explain some of the compelling use cases for AR.

And sorry but I don't think workplace safety training makes and entire industry and justification for the technology. One use case? Two? Any? Nothing.

I dispute that AR either is, or will be important.

Beyond Pokémon Go of course, which was something of a rarity.

I just can't think of compelling use cases, and no one has ever showed one to me that has impressed.

Mine craft on your coffee table? I think it's a silly curiosity. I want to get OUT of my lounge room when gaming, not be stuck in it ... MOVE YOUR DIRTY COFFEE CUPS OFF THE TABLE I WANT TO PLAY MINECRAFT ON IT... no one will ever say.

So much corporate communication is, in the end, just recruiting advertisements.

These big companies Like Facebook and Amazon need to create gigantic free universities that are incredibly appealing to attend, giving the corporation the chance to cream off the most promising new employees.

So funny. I just got back from Japan. Such a beautiful, respectful, well mannered, well ordered society.

Ahhhh. I do feel soothed. For so long I felt unwatched, unseen, sadly unspied on and left out.....
Re:Are Tim Cook’s Days as CEO Numbered? on Tuesday October 10, 2017 @08:38AM (#15441242)
No they are not.

It's not perfect, and Apple under Tim had no ideas at all, but the money is pouring in and nothing else counts. Just ask Steve Ballmer.

This is the path of most new business people.

Getting it wrong makes you really, deeply understand why NOT to do certain things, and focuses you and what is important.

Many failed first timers never go back to business but I see initial fail as s valuable first step.

Having said that, damned if I'd ever go into the food business, it doesn't scale.

I prefer a straight "You we're not accepted." Rather than all the platitudes about how you're awesome but everyone is awesome so it's hard to choose from all the awesome but don't feel too bad etc etc.

I'm a big boy now, just "Sorry you didn't get in." Is less patronizing somehow.

No.

The even is completely insecure, in ways not yet discovered.

This feels dodgy.
