Re:The False Promise of Imitating Proprietary LLMs on Friday May 26, 2023 @02:00AM (#36080556)
They don't even use more methodological evaluations of fine-tuned LLMs, they use metrics that are specifically built to support a (false) contrarian conclusion in order to generate attention for their "paper."

Even disregarding the sonic boom, why would we even want mediocre civil pilots to have access to aircraft thag are necessarily more dangerous and more destructive in the event of a crash?
That's interesting, but there's actually this other philosopher who published a very similar idea sometime around ~1921? I can't remember his reasoning(something about the world being a collection of facts) but I've heard that his thesis actually entirely rejected continental philosophy on similar claims to your own and singlehandedly began the shift towards the analytic philosophy that you seem to be so partial to. I think his name sounded similar to Wittingstein?

That is going to make some very expensive scotch.

Ask HN: What tools do you use to make your website/browser interactions faster?

I'm a long time Mouse & Keyboard user. However, as of late, I've been working away from home more frequently, I'd hate to bring a mouse and mousepad to a coffee shop for a number of reasons so I've been interacting with webpages primarily using my laptop's trackpad and chromium's mediocre keyboard shortcuts. Does anyone have a setup for faster, ideally keyboard-based website interfacing?

Can you qualify that?
It turns out the SC devs have spent this whole time solving every fundamental problem in physics to create perfect immersion.

How is this better than RTP?
Yeah but they still have a police force.

Yes, well documented in psychology, a field whose professionals even acknowledge as a psuedoscience, if a useful one.

Ok, so you're saying it is more than just a boolean then?

Source on that first claim?
Re:The dark side of entrepreneurship on Saturday July 31, 2021 @12:45AM (#28015371)
I mean I doubt anything in that article would come as a huge surprise to a nascent or prospective entrepreneur? It seems like most of article's point is just an anecdotally obfuscated version of, "Entrepreneurship takes time, effort, and has no gauruntees of success." A fairly obvious message I doubt anyone who has seriously considered starting a business hasn't realized.

Re:Efficiency Is the Enemy on Tuesday May 04, 2021 @10:43PM (#27045578)
This might be a bit pedantic but it seems that this article is arguing against business as a technique for ensuring increased efficiency, it isn't arguing against efficiency itself. This post's whole ethos is that slack creates higher efficiency due to an increased reaction time from workers.

The death of writing is a bullet-list of major points, put some effort in, maybe you'll become more interested in hockey after reading the article.

Russian bots on Hacker News?
I mean I won't disagree with your first point but if you read the article you would know that the author very explicitly defines 'Top Performer.'

Re:Luau: Augmenting Lua’s Syntax with Types on Saturday September 12, 2020 @04:02AM (#24450777)
I've been programming games in Roblox for a while now and honestly once you get used to LUA the things that once appeared to be "horrors" are now just quirks that I've honestly gotten used to.
Seeing this post in print newspaper style is a trip.
