There are 2 kinds of maintenance: expected or unexpected.
Re:AI Isn't Replacing SREs. It's Deskilling Them on Friday October 30, 2026 @12:17PM (#50306084)
We use AI at work, Claude specifically, and it’s faster than avg SRE for trivial tasks like cross signals correlation. But it requires a lot of effort to build a harness from your company contexts for it to work like an SRE. And it’s just a tool so if you have to build your knowledge to make it useful, otherwise it’s just a blunt. Or in other word, incompetent people are incompetent no matter of tools
Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @10:55AM (#50290149)
US politics. Lot of US corps now ban Chinese models, don’t ask me why, the people in charge are just dumb fucks
Re:Apple HomeView on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @10:20AM (#50072215)
The Vision Pro would be successful if they priced it to sub $1000
Re:Apple HomeView on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @10:02AM (#50071928)
Me too, it’s much cheaper and more convenient than you have to have a dedicated phone that for everyone could use at home.
Re:Be The Onion's Hero for Once on Sunday October 11, 2026 @05:51PM (#50048211)
Yeah I know, nobody takes The Onion at face value. They like to play with words
Re:Be The Onion's Hero for Once on Sunday October 11, 2026 @05:37PM (#50048066)
It sounds like their archive contains 270 year old contents, not that they’re 270 year old company
In general it’s the price of working with government, also see AWS Bahrain. I wonder if their insurance actually pays out because those are not officially wars there so hopefully they could recover some what from the insurance.
Re:Bitwarden Dual License Model on Sunday October 11, 2026 @06:17AM (#50041564)
I discovered that only Proton Pass works on my old Android 9. I guess this is the way to go.
Re:Stackoverflow 2026 Developer Survey on Sunday October 11, 2026 @05:05AM (#50041147)
I’d good until your favorite agent flagged your question as duplicated and ghosted you
Re:Our $445M Series D on Friday October 09, 2026 @05:16PM (#50026650)
I agree, 9 of one hour interviews is exhausting just imagining it. In my company, 3-4 steps of 1h each that spans over days were already stressed. Guess I’m too old for that kind of companies
Re:Extra Big Ass Intelligence on Saturday October 03, 2026 @03:31AM (#49942123)
It’s perfect that a Super Intelligent created the website

Re:Trump says it's time to rebrand AI with a new name on Sunday September 20, 2026 @09:40PM (#49782085)
Call it American Intelligent
Quick Google result is it’s basically a Neoverse V2 system, so yeah, armv9.

Edit: it’s funny because this article from 2021 mentioned Fujisu precisely https://siliconangle.com/2021/03/30/arm-unveils-armv9-archit...

Re:GLM Built Its Own Inference Infrastructure on Thursday September 17, 2026 @09:11AM (#49740250)
> what prevents US AI labs from doing the same level of software optimization?

Because they don’t have to. Most of the time money would buy you newest and/or more hardwares so there’s low/minimal interest to optimize the code or approach.

Re:I Made a Non-Wi-Fi Mitsubishi AC Smart with an ESP32 on Monday September 14, 2026 @11:43AM (#49698874)
Ha, I’m having the Hitachi as well
Re:I Made a Non-Wi-Fi Mitsubishi AC Smart with an ESP32 on Sunday September 13, 2026 @08:35AM (#49683306)
This is kinda unrelated but I learned while researching for my new AC that there are two Mitsubishi brands/companies, one is Mitsubishi Electric and the other is Mitsubishi Heavy Industrial. And their ACs are not the same, so just saying Mitsubishi AC probably could lead to problem. The one OP has is Mitsubishi Electric by the first photo.
You almost got me, it’s 2.6 tokens/minute

Re:DeepSeek v4.1 Flash on Thursday September 10, 2026 @10:23AM (#49644214)
I’ve just tried, it’s now my new favorite Flash model
Re:DeepSeek v4.1 Flash on Thursday September 10, 2026 @03:44AM (#49639886)
Waiting this model to be on openrouter (with other providers) to test out. In my use case, the GLM 5.3 Flash is the current cheapest and intelligent Flash model, but it’s dog slow at 13tps so I have to leave it run for many minutes then check again then correct it again
Re:Matt Mullenweg put on 'leave of absence' on Thursday September 10, 2026 @12:01AM (#49638257)
See his other comments in HN in the previous wp “incident”, simply said he _is_ nut
Re:Decapitating a MacBook on Sunday September 06, 2026 @10:55AM (#49587075)
It sounds crazy but pulling >100A from low voltage battery is kinda normal for a 6kw solar inverter (in 220-250V countries). It needs a pair of 50mm2 wires which is thick as a rope though.
Re:IBM Bob on Friday September 04, 2026 @10:23AM (#49565112)

Re:IBM Bob on Friday September 04, 2026 @09:22AM (#49564258)
Nobody got fired for using IBM Bob
Re:Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board on Friday September 04, 2026 @09:00AM (#49563980)
It’s because you sandbox in a VM doesn’t mean you give it admin access to the VM
Re:Qwen 3.8 27B available on Cerebras at 1500 tokens/s on Thursday September 03, 2026 @08:48PM (#49559116)
Unusable is too stretch IMO, you can still use it in tiny tasks that’ll respond almost instantly
Re:ChatGPT Is Throwing 404 on Thursday September 03, 2026 @11:58AM (#49552168)
