First of all, stop talking for others.
You hate dogs. Not we.
Second, I don't let my dog roam around and I am very well aware of people being anxious, but clearly you just hate on anything with dogs and are ranting here.
>And you're obviously thinking of a smaller dog and roomier office than I am, if that dog isn't still getting in the way.
Except, you know, I have a big dog and he does exactly that. Laying on his bed all day.
>This policy of allowing dog is pushed by a majority that cannot understand that some of us simply don't like dogs at all.
Should we also ban roses, because some people don't like them? How about no meat at the workplace because it could bother vegans?
There has to be some kind of compromise by everyone if people want to share a place. Be it accepting that some people love dogs, hate roses,....
At the end, if the majority likes something, you are on the losing end in a shared environment at least (as bad as that sounds). One could also argue it is rather selfish that you want a shared environment to suit your needs only.
If something bothers you that much then you have to somehow find a compromise. Maybe you can sit away from the dog owner coworkers or something or create "dog areas" and "no-dog areas." (Another compromise, like I mentioned).
My point is, just the existence of a child in the office isn't bad. If it starts yelling etc. then it gets annoying.
Same with dogs. How does a dog that lays on his bed all day next to his owner bother you?
Children in the office aren't bad either, if they behave.
This has nothing to do with dogs being in office.
It's just a rant from the guy because he had some bad experiences with dogs.
THe problem (regardless of office or not) is not that dogs are allowed, but rather dogs not behaving.
If you have 1GB, then forget anything OpenVPN. Use IPSec or Wireguard.
With OpenVPN you will bottleneck at ~300Mbit\s. With IPSec and Wireguard I have had no issues getting ~900Mbit\s to my own server.
It basically replaces IPSec. You might want to look that up. There should be plenty of information regarding that.
Since I got fiber gbit up and down I try to relocate as much as possible of my homelab to real data centers (Hetzner) since I can't stand the noise. (I have 10ms ping to my server)
Then I use wireguard to connect it to my home network and make it act like a server in the home network. (All the traffic even gets directed through home)
I still have the main storage server locally though because otherwise I'd not be able to even watch movies if my internet went down.
My dream would be an all SSD storage server being near silet.
That doesn't make sense. You can still get barebones hosting and not get dying disks and bad support.
If you watch the show "Border Security: Canada's Front Line" you will see how often this is the norm. It's on Netflix as well.
I really think these are dangerous times and for some reason I only ever expected this from the US but never from Canada or New Zealand.
The firefox that keeps doing experiements and jokes on their users by installing random extensions without asking?
Until some weeks ago I was less unhappy with Google Chrome than with firefox, but now I am kind of almost equal unhappy with both...
You should be using your own domain anyways.
If it's the same as here in Switzerland, then it is not about "being caught." It's not a fine. It's a fee. Even if you declare your goods and pay taxes, it costs you a fee every time they check your package.

It's pretty ironic, because that "disable AV" line is what you will find on most pirated copy readmes.
I remember when I first joined that I really liked how people who disagree here do not downvote but rather challenge you through a comment. It was a nice change from reddit...
But times have changed and people love to downvote here these days.
I seriously don't understand why the support reply got downvoted ...

Yes, but it makes it sound ridiculous. If I am going to include all my emotional responses to an event every time I write about something it will become ridiculous and annoying at one point.
Can you not be annoyed by something without starting to shake every time? Especially if you try to interpret rudeness as sexism...
Why do activists like these always have to write that they "shake"? I usually stop reading and taking them seriously.
I guess I was looking at it from the wrong perspective then. It is very expensive
for me then :)
I guess it is not even meant for me (a single developer with a small project) then!
It appears to be very expensive. I used their calculator and it says using 1 spanning node and 1GB of storage is about $657 a month.
When I asked them about this and why they do not even tell the customer about this, they said it is so that they can reset the password when requested through the control panel.
