Re:Ubuntu Touch OS wins its first smartphone partner on Tuesday December 10, 2013 @07:17PM (#6884923)
Buy it used on Ebay and save a lot. But I think that Ubuntu touch has some qualities that make cost irrelevant.
Re:The Price We Pay for Cheap Meat on Tuesday December 10, 2013 @02:59PM (#6883254)
This is a useless advice as there is no accountability/testing for these claims.... you cannot even be sure what kind of fish that you are buying nowadays (organic is even harder to prove). DNA testing would solve that, but the FDA apparently don't have the budget. For example: https://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/one-third-fish... .
Re:Doom released 20 years ago today on Tuesday December 10, 2013 @12:23PM (#6882027)
Wolfenstein definitely started it but Doom was so much better. Modem to modem connections was great. OT: Comcast is having some real issues today.

Also, electric cars can be powered by coal, nuclear, hydroelectric, etc... or whatever the grid is powered by.

0 for me also, and I had a Nexus 4 for a while... they must ask a question about enabling this feature.
once your funds are in, you can instantly exchange between crypto-currencies

Re:Why Jeff Bezos's Drone Is More Than a Joke on Thursday December 05, 2013 @09:24PM (#6858982)
The only way this seems plausible is with nuclear powered engine(s)
Re:Anti-Patent Troll Bill Passes The House on Thursday December 05, 2013 @09:17PM (#6858969)
if only the copyright could become as weak as the current status of the patents, we would be golden.
Re:Why Jeff Bezos's Drone Is More Than a Joke on Thursday December 05, 2013 @07:59PM (#6858611)
keep dreaming (I would think that this is only possible right next to a warehouse, and I don't think that it makes sense to have a warehouse on every street corner with every possible products in inventory)
Re:Download a copy of your Gmail and Google Calendar data on Thursday December 05, 2013 @03:46PM (#6857099)
really easy but not incremental?
Re:Download a copy of your Gmail and Google Calendar data on Thursday December 05, 2013 @03:42PM (#6857076)
click "Create an archive" and you will then be able to select other Google services
It would depend how the OTPs are generated and delivered.
sure, that would be part of the solution. But I don't think that they would implement something server-side to make this easy for most people to use.
also didn't say authorized by who I guess...
Encryption does not mean anything until you reign-in law enforcement powers.
even if the encryption used was really secure, the government could request the keys. Unless company executives are no longer afraid to go to jail, they would give them out.
Can one record include many rows? I would assume so.
Re:2013, the year of Usenet on Wednesday December 04, 2013 @08:07PM (#6851893)
I would be curious to know if an IRC log from the 90s exist at all (major networks), even if it's only behind a "Google-wall"
Re:Two million Facebook, Gmail and Twitter passwords stolen on Wednesday December 04, 2013 @05:29PM (#6850872)
Not as safe as other solutions, but I can remember all my passwords by choosing passwords by website category (6 for example): one low-security sites, one for sites that have your CC #, one for social networking, one for email, one for work, and one for your banking sites. keep a copy in your wallet. Sleep better.
60 chars passwords probably reach the char limit imposed by many different services.

Re:Show HN: Bitrated – Bitcoin m-of-n arbitrated transactions on Tuesday December 03, 2013 @07:52PM (#6844327)

Re:Small things add up: 4chan's migration to a cookieless domain on Tuesday December 03, 2013 @06:12PM (#6843892)
and I hate how Google (and others) force websites to serve small files from *.googleapis.com (and other domains)... some websites end up loading files from 10-15 different domain names... I wish this would stop, but I am sarcastic at the same time because I know that they could easily host them locally.
Re:Amazon to deliver by drone? Don't believe the hype on Monday December 02, 2013 @09:18AM (#6833736)
I think it would be cheaper and easier to have only a couple warehouses in space/orbit.
