Hey, HackWM author here, this might be a better link https://github.com/ZaneA/HashTWM :) Unfortunately it has been largely unmaintained by myself since the initial release, I occasionally pick it up for a day or two but I'm not using it actively anymore. Just happy that some people find a use for it!
Re:Show HN: Nestor – Hosted Hubot for Slack on Wednesday March 23, 2016 @01:02AM (#11342262)
It is the Heroku power being used in the Nestor shell example that gives this impression, using Trello or something else should solve this :)
Re:Full-Stack Redux Tutorial on Sunday March 20, 2016 @06:35PM (#11325025)
What tool is used to create the diagrams here? Is it GraphViz or something else? Looks very nice
No syntax highlighting here either, Firefox 44.0.2, console shows that loadJS is undefined
Re:Next-Gen Lighting Is Pushing the Limits of Realism on Friday August 22, 2014 @03:18AM (#8211188)
Not that this is any sort of proof but if you watch the last few videos you can definitely see the shading change on the tree leaves that move around in the wind.
It may work, just haven't had the opportunity to try it out :)
Though as I understand from the source this also acts as an emulator, so if you scan your phone it may replay those card details, worth keeping in mind.
Working for me, Nexus 5 with Visa Paywave

Edit: Reading that is...

Re:ButterDB on Friday August 01, 2014 @09:43PM (#8123713)
This was posted to the NZ Python User Group a couple of months back, where a bit of discussion around the name took place, https://groups.google.com/d/msg/nzpug/womO01rqF58/niM48Fn8QA...
Thanks for the heads-up! Would be a fun project to revisit
This looks great! I tinkered with building a similar service-oriented bot, using ZeroMQ for communication (though not very robust as it would block for responses IIRC); http://demonastery.org/2012/07/building-a-decoupled-irc-bot-...
I'd recommend Piwik (http://piwik.org/) as a decent self-hosted alternative to Google Analytics that is quick to set up on any PHP based hosting.
Re:Emacs users are like Terry Pratchett’s Igors on Friday December 27, 2013 @01:52AM (#6969684)
I second the idea of using Prelude to start with Emacs, along with the package manager which makes the initial setup and adding modes/stuff very easy (see http://melpa.milkbox.net).

I haven't seen any lost functionality by using evil; modes that define bindings continue to work, and the usual C-x/C-c/M-x/whatever works fine with evil. There is the odd major mode that doesn't work with evil out of the box (usually if it redefines j/k) but most have no problems. You can still use most (all?) regular Emacs movement commands with evil as well.

Re:Emacs users are like Terry Pratchett’s Igors on Thursday December 26, 2013 @02:46PM (#6967675)
The great thing about evil is you can enable it in your .emacs and it mostly just works. But even better, because this is Emacs the vi layer is also easily extendable. Here's an example of adding other operators (adding `mit`, `mit>` etc): https://github.com/ZaneA/Dotfiles/blob/1858a02de25e25de20e96...
Re:Running Rails? Defend yourself against BREACH on Friday August 02, 2013 @11:40PM (#6151008)
Except that this isn't specific to Rails at all, this is just a method for combating it if you are using Rails.
Re:Relative Line Numbers in Vim on Monday June 03, 2013 @03:55AM (#5811945)
For the Emacs users, check out https://github.com/coldnew/linum-relative

And for those with the melpa repository set up, it can be found as the "linum-relative" package.

Here is a thread from a month ago that has some really great tips, "Ask HN: Those with intense focus, how do you do it?" https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5550366
Re:Everything you need to understand to start with AngularJS on Wednesday April 24, 2013 @06:23PM (#5604381)
The blurry part isn't so nice, but I think that have snapshots of code might actually be better in a lot of ways if it forces people to type code out themselves without copy/paste (no better way to learn than to get it into your muscle memory after all).
Re:Linode hacked, CCs and passwords leaked on Monday April 15, 2013 @11:09PM (#5555978)
Doesn't look like it. If you believe the IRC logs, the attacker broke in using a "0day" exploit of ColdFusion, which is being used on the site. Not because of a flaw in RAM upgrades. Although I believe that Linode beginning to offer free trial accounts is probably responsible for the increase in attacks lately...
Re:Crytek: Graphics Are “60% Of The Game” on Sunday April 14, 2013 @07:48PM (#5548914)
In my opinion animation is more important than just "graphics". In my experience a well motion-capped game is easily more enjoyable and immersive than a traditionally animated one. Of course this doesn't apply everywhere, but I think fluid life-like animation goes a long way regardless of the graphics that package it.
Re:Linode NextGen: RAM Upgrade on Tuesday April 09, 2013 @05:10PM (#5521399)
This RAM change is now reflected here. http://www.linode.com/backups/
I believe Angular will search for inline templates first, so as long as you use the same path for the template name it won't attempt any AJAX fetching.
Re:Chicken Scheme on Saturday March 16, 2013 @05:17PM (#5386838)
In some ways it just encourages a different style of development. There is more emphasis on forking processes and communicating between them, which some may consider to be a better practice anyway. It all depends on your domain. On the other hand, there's nothing stopping you from binding to pthreads and seeing how far you get with that (and from a quick search it appears that people have had some success with it, especially if you're calling into a lot of C libraries).
Re:Chicken Scheme on Friday March 15, 2013 @08:32PM (#5383829)
I have no experience with it personally, so that might indeed be the case. If anyone mentions otherwise on IRC (#chicken on freenode) I will update this accordingly.
Re:Chicken Scheme on Friday March 15, 2013 @05:31PM (#5383164)
There is at least an immutable maps implementation here, http://wiki.call-cc.org/eggref/4/persistent-hash-map

Not too sure about the others though.

Re:Ask HN: What is your personal website setup? on Sunday March 10, 2013 @07:31AM (#5351494)
Linode, Nginx, Jekyll, Git deployment using Gitolite.

Workflow to get a static site online:

  git clone pr0d:www/skeleton-jekyll
  cd skeleton-jekyll/jekylldocs
  [... add/edit files here ...]
  git add .
  git commit -m "Initial commit."
  git remote add example pr0d:www/example.com
  git push example master
At this point a hook builds the pages and sets up nginx using a template config (in the same repo), a few seconds later the site is live. Quick, easy, and can be done on any machine with Git and a text editor.

As for domains, I love http://iwantmyname.com

Re:Keep your wireframes free of distracting Lorem Ipsum on Wednesday February 27, 2013 @01:26AM (#5290995)
I've created a dead simple Chrome extension that uses Redact Script to block out YouTube comments, https://github.com/ZaneA/YT-Redact
For those have a project with an existing .clang_complete file (used to pass options to the compiler with the clang_complete Vim plugin), this gist [1] will allow you to reuse that file with YouCompleteMe. Better I suppose would be a patch to detect a .clang_complete file in YCM directly...
