BAAS, Bryan-as-a-service to nag you weekly to fix bugs. Could be a profitable idea. lol.
No, it does not. Mentally ill people can feel harassed if you say hi to them.
Could be staged like Tesla's full self driving that's arriving every year since 2015.
How to lie in a resume to cover up a big gap?
How old is she, try to get her in bed.
Mostly negatively. The beautiful code that you produce by functional programming will always make you aware of how bad most programming languages are. I took Ocaml in university and I was completely and utterly blown away.
You just know deep down whenever you touch JS or some other language that there exists a better way of programming.
This depressive garbage has unfortunately proliferated itself way too much in tech spaces like HN.
Nonsense like this pretends to be wisdom but it's the very opposite of it and it has only one message: become more anxious because time is limited. No one will be helped by this, despite the gorgeous UI it's a filthy life degrading viewpoint that needs to be dismantled.
Avoid those that make you fearful and sad that degrade you back into disease and death. -Rumi
I may write a blogpost about this soon.
There is no decay and decline. Thinking that decay and decline is coming is the decay happening right now. This mentality needs to change ASAP.
Her next post will be "Where have all the good men went".
That's exactly what I'm saying. We're talking about FAANGs not your uncle's ice cream shop.
It's more often than not a prerequisite. I was contacted a few years ago and was told that the position was for people with "BsC" degrees. They lie through the teeth all the time.
Same with Elon Musky, Phd not required but they won't even look at your resume without it.
Yup, tons of educational garbage online. FreeCodeCamp is a big offender. 12 year olds teaching syntax. These places exist for a reason their job is to sell the illusion of knowledge.
It's a nonsense of a blogpost. Everyone is in a rush because there's ageism in tech and getting up to speed fast is important.
"If you want, put in four years at a college (or more at a graduate school). This will give you access to some jobs that require credentials, and it will give you a deeper understanding of the field, but if you don't enjoy school, you can (with some dedication) get similar experience on your own or on the job. In any case, book learning alone won't be enough"
It's not if you want. Great importance is given to university degrees even at Google. I've lost count of people claiming education doesn't matter who have it as a prerequisite on their companies job pages.
39$ per month? That's insane.
I really dk why you're being downvoted. Seems the only correct option when hysteria starts is to join it.
Doesn't "slowly forced" imply lack of agency?
How did they determine that issue? Sleep study?
They are first world problems and if you read carefully everyone who has gotten responsibilities chose them and they are very happy for it.
It's just the mind's way of coming up with problems when there aren't any.
Lol. FAANGs have hundreds of thousands of employees. They aren't Einsteins.
What a hilarious question. Doctors make far more than software engineers and are respected. The profession carries prestige by default. Software engineering simply does not.
Becoming an dev good enough to pass a FAANG interview is orders of magnitude easier than becoming an MD.
It's like asking why do people become pilots instead of chefs.
Imagine saving someone's life as opposed to writing JS for an image app that provides filters. Incomparable.
The problem with open-source contributions is that many projects don't have documentation and some don't even have a Slack/Discord channel where they hang out so you can ask questions. If anyone knows a well document open-source project looking for contributors please share? (has to have decent amount of stars)
You should congratulate yourself as he has his priorities straight. Life is too short to get blinded in front of a screen for a potential to impress FAANGs so that they sack you after they burn you out.
Tinkering is overrated. Deep work is not. You don't tinker yourself to chatGPT or to any significant technology. Code monkeys tinker computer scientists do deep work. Big difference.
It's impossible if they do that they cut time for other more crucial things in the long term like meditation and exercising. You only get a limited amount of time in the day.
Becoming a super nerd is unnatural.
But you can't just drop Tibetan Buddhism just like that. It's a tradition going back thousands of years and I think Dzogchen should be the Northern star in a mad world taking us to peace and happiness. After all they say it's the highest vehicle for liberation. So it's very sad to see them producing people which are accused of ethical transgressions.
What do you consider the paragon of Buddhist practice? Maybe I can check them out online. I've hung around DhO and people complain that Buddhist practitioners have more of an emptiness dryness aspect to them as opposed to lively joyous qualities of other traditions like Advaita. I'm not impressed with Zen masters. They espouse very dry rigorous qualities and they don't appear to me carelessly joyous and happy.
I've lost count of Tibetan masters that have abused their students. Buddhism is simply not what is thought of on first sight and he is absolutely correct about it.
It's an incredibly depressing religion. The premise is basically get off the wheel(of samsara) and exist or cease existing in Nirvana and or keep suffering.
Silence is rejection. If they aren't breaking the door to get you it's a no. (in dating and jobs)
I tried to elaborate in a previous comment(on some other post) but moderation deleted my comment. It's very difficult to hide disgust and disdain for this library if you've used it. The reasons are as follows:
1) React boasts that is just JS but has arbitrary rules like don't use useEffect in loops.
2) Even after 9 years even the core features are not clearly explained. The authors clearly did not know what they were doing.
3) There is no in-depth treatise of the library anywhere. A tweet here and a tweet there or some blog posts which you can't even figure out if they are outdated. If you visit the docs you'll see the most trivial examples because anything more complicated and now you are neck deep in trouble due to state menagement.
4) See this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34142168. It's a mystery if useEffect is for side-effects or not. If you use any other well-documented library you will see things clearly explained in the docs. With React it's just hype based woo-woo. It is responsible for degrading web development into plug-and-play style of poorly written components glued together because the core idea is just bad.
Whatever removes React is the way to go, it's the most poorly thought of library out there.
This is insane world no doubt about it. US is very conservative with their laws and currently at war with men. So this guy is dunzo.
