Re:Amazon Is Gutting Its AI Division After Sustained Failure on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @08:40PM (#50267926)
so who is going to be picked up by Amazon to replace their AI?

Amazon is not going to pay for AI internally, and sooner or later they will have to add something internal.

neither side can truly say they are free and clear of vast amounts of foreign monies.
where would the plea deal come from if there was no interaction with the prosecutor's office?

Re:What shall I teach my son? on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @10:58PM (#50175546)
Some interesting points, but I am a bit discombobulated because the author keeps changing between education, schooling, and parenting pretending they are the same.

Is he asking how to parent a child or what fields to nudge them towards, or what?

I am lost in him taking formal education not delivering any more and making it into an existential crisis of parenting.

Is parenting "education"? sure to some extend like do not stick your hand in fire and some such. But that is a far cry even from basic calculus.

Maybe just stick to the basics on what to teach your son, and of the four things written, only the first and last really needed - become a good person; learn basic facts. The other two will fall in place.

Similar to the other comment "Bit-mapped Graphics" by Steve Rimmer [0] is an excellent reference.

I believe this has nothing to do with hurting "Claude's feeling", and way more with Claude not becoming hurtful, because the interactions are used to train the models.
Re:`123456' password used in Danish CPR data breach on Saturday October 10, 2026 @12:03PM (#50034233)
Beyond the weaknesses already mentioned, why did the system allow such weak passwords in the first place?
Re:So You Think You Could Be an Electrician? on Sunday October 04, 2026 @12:12AM (#49950569)
this is already happening in several nations' military for high value equipment. the tech knows how to use most tools, but does not have full expertise on the specific equipment. Smart glasses not only guide the technician but allows remote expert assistance through the glasses.
Re:Federal judge calls Flock 'indiscriminate mass surveillance' on Saturday October 03, 2026 @09:43PM (#49949767)
Yes, you are likely right.

I do not know that much about TPMS changing, only anecdotal. Every time a rim is messed up or the device fails the TPMS would change.

They might have been wrong when they told me why they "just" track car BT (and EZPass).

Re:Federal judge calls Flock 'indiscriminate mass surveillance' on Saturday October 03, 2026 @07:37PM (#49948885)
I have never seen TPMS ID trackers as they change relatively frequently and there are passive ones too; not to say they do not exists. Built-in BT ID of a vehicle or mobile phone rarely does.

Bluetooth and toll transponders (e.g, EZ-Pass, FastTrak) have been tracking things for decades.

First hand experience in operational rooms where both Bluetooth and the transponders are used for "traffic management" in Delaware and Washington DC. The readers are not at toll gates (only). they are sprinkled throughout highways and "high interest" areas. And, yes individual vehicles can be identified throughout their movements that is the very purpose of tracking so they can see the speed and flow of individual vehicles "to adjust intersection lights".

Re:What is going on with ceiling fans on Saturday October 03, 2026 @12:12PM (#49945489)
most forget, but fan blades need cleaning. any plastic blades, specially the clear one will look like cat vomit.

Imagine clear blades with each blade displaying cat hairballs spread out on the edges, spinning them above your head. It will harass you, give ammo to your in-laws to harass you, create marital strife (when are you going to clean that?) and then death as you fall off the ladder and break your neck on the coffee table, despite surviving four frontline deployments...

My MinkaAirs use 303MHz remotes. No pull chains. This frustrated me so much, last night i got an ESP32-S3 + CC1101 and reverse engineered the signal to the fans to be also control it from Home Assistant. Now, if i lose or break the controller, i can still switch the fans & built-in LED on & off another way. not perfect, but it is in my control.
if open source is struggling with this volume, what is the likelihood that if commercial software would also struggle if they were scanned and exposed?

I mean Microsoft, 2026 Sept Patch Tuesday: 964 CVEs...

Does the owner, Mr. Kennedy has actual knowledge/proof if the phone was copied, or this is a guess? Might be missing from the article.
