It's possible your acquirement could have changed the acquirer from getting bought out though

Show HN: Vim for Google Docs

Hey HN, I’ve been working on a chrome extension the past few months that lets you use Vim keybindings in Google Docs. I’m in college and use Docs for note taking, so I initially started working on this as a toy project. When I realized other people were interested I started putting in more work to polish the extension. After a lot of development (and a lot more to come as well), I think the...

Looks good! I'll give this a swing on my own extension Vim for Docs. Firefox not being supported is a bummer, but it's not like there is a build tool for extensions that does support both Firefox and chromium based browsers.
Re:Running a 180B parameter LLM on a single Apple M2 Ultra on Thursday September 07, 2023 @02:07PM (#37423114)
It's refreshing to see how fast open LLMs are advancing in terms of the models available. A year ago I thought that besides for the novelty of it, running LLMs locally would be nowhere close to stuff like OpenAI's closed models in terms of utility.

As more and more models become open and are able to be run locally, the precedent gets stronger (which is good for the end consumer in my opinion).

Is this Trademark for "X" the text too, or just the "X" logo shown on USPTO? The logo doesn't look like Elon's logo at all (that said, I don't think that would stop him from his rebranding shenanigans either way)
Re:Plain Text Journaling in Vim on Monday June 19, 2023 @02:30PM (#36394839)
Yeah, I don't disagree. The notes I'm putting in Google Docs usually err on the side of being blog post ideas or things that I'd want to share with people at some point after I refine it. When it comes down to privacy for sensitive thoughts it's kind of hard to beat local files (and the inconvenience of mobile is just the price to pay).
Re:Plain Text Journaling in Vim on Monday June 19, 2023 @02:07PM (#36394520)
I wish I could journal straight into a directory, but I've found that it's crucial to have mobile access to my notes. That's why I mainly now write everything in Google Docs since it's simple and convenient (I tried Notion but was not a fan for various reasons I won't get into it).

The only issue with Docs though is there's no Vim support of course, which has annoyed me for a while. I finally got around to building an extension for it though if anyone is interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/vim-for-google-doc...

Re:Ask HN: Where do you post your writing? on Friday June 10, 2022 @12:42PM (#31696479)
I had this exact problem as well when wanting to start a tech blog. I wanted to write on my own space, not a platform like Medium.

This led me to create my own tool [0] to make minimalist blogs with Markdown, no messy code or configuration needed. The end result is my site [1], which although barebones, I think looks decently good for now.

What did you switch from? Thanks
which external editor do you use?
Re:Ask HN: What tech stack to use for my startup? on Sunday February 06, 2022 @07:19PM (#30238570)
This is what I sense from Django, while Next.js would be a little more "uncharted"

Ask HN: What tech stack to use for my startup?

I'm building a website that is run of the mill CRUD (and am considering adding a mobile app in the future). I have written the backend API in Django and the frontend in React. However, I realized too late that a core marketing part of my project is SEO: React won't cut it then. I'm considering rewriting the frontend in Next.js (to solve the issues with SEO), or just completely rewriting...
