I was initially impressed that Google was stepping up to get this up for the good of the country. I'm not the best estimator (a good manager will double what I tell them) but I think a lot of us here could have something testable by Monday, surely I thought Google could have...

No argument on that. I just don't quite believe that the "west created it", I guess it's possible that it was willful and meant to prove the communist utopian ideal...

I think there was some hope that capitalism would bring about democracy. It hasn't quite worked out (yet?).

This type of argument always kind of bothers me as well, be nice to state it as "helped create" or something but then there is a lot to say for the old saying "If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem".
This should be called what it was originally "spooky action at a distance". Calling it teleportation is marketing.
In the US there is the concept of "Expectation of Privacy" [0] so it depends.

I think it got a valid thought across. It works as a sort of shorthand. Would have been 3x longer in essay form.
What would it cost to make this happen?
Anyways, Beto will always be a wizard in my book.
To be fair, we had not and have not stipulated what we mean when we say "floppy". Maybe you were a rich kid but a lot of us were still on some pretty low density stuff into the late 80's. Embarrassingly, I was still on cassette for most of the decade.
It is sort of a trope in CA, oh and it's the deltas, are you saying that stinking up their bathrooms with un-flushed urine and being charged a surcharge to save 10% of 10% of the available water is logical?

Isn't it really just a "feel good" thing?

what is the "h" for?
Oh the quality of life behaviors of residents that use a very small percentage of the water? Residents use 10% of the water, 50% of the water is "environmental" and is dumped into the ocean for the smelt, etc.[0]

If /ˈbɛ.toʊ oʊ.rɔːrk/ was R he would be buried on "TacoLand" alone.
Then he is some compression wizard too!

Edit: I guess that could be read as plural...

"The Justice Department on Tuesday charged more than 30 wealthy people — including two television stars — with being part of a long-running scheme to bribe and cheat to get their kids into big-name colleges and universities."
