Ask HN: State of the art sport watch for privacy enthusiasts

Dear HN-community,I've recently started looking into the modern world of cloud-connected heart-rate/GPS/sports-watches.While the available products from Coros, Garmin, Huawei, Polar, etc., are tempting, I've been appalled by the lack of focus on privacy-related concerns for consumers. It seems to be so common, nowadays, that I would have to share all my personal data (heart rate, sleep records,...

Wait for it, they're going to use this as a pretext to extend their already rampant censoring-, and account lockdown program.
No confirmed cases, that is. The thing is, that Indonesia mostly doesn't have the means to detect the disease, or only in specialized labs.

Also, if no "known" cases are present in a specific country, the awareness to check for specific symptoms is probably lower.

That's also the curious thing about why usually the detection rate in a country rises fast in the beginning - when the first infected patient has been found, as by then doctors start to specifically test for the virus.

This sh*t has to stop. When will customers of these core computing platforms (primarily most of us) finally come to grips and demand a minimal feature set (similar to libreboot), and refuse to accept these inherently insecure products- or at least demand recompensation for damage done to them?

That's a start. What missguided thinking would suggest otherwise?

But that doesn't mean, that you are valuable (able to provide value) to someone else.

However, the point about self worth, I like to make is: self worth starts with you - based on experience, and obviously supported by a feedback loop you gain confidence in what you're good at, and what not.

So, the best way to gain self worth is by gaining confidence, is by gaining experience.

anyone knows details about the threats?

Found this to be an interesting read, although a bit superficial. Having worked in the industry as a consultant, I detest these snake-oil practices, and it always bewildered me, why companies were so prone to throw their money at these kind of 'magic' black-box solutions. But I guess, it's just another CYA strategy.
