Do you have bad experiences with US workers, since you implicitly contrast them with immigrant ones?
That answer does not make sense. Why would companies offshore if not having access to immigrant labour receiving the same pay as US labour?
Silicon Valley industry grew big before major tech immigrant inflows.
Also, you're assuming that US people can't do the jobs of visa people.
That’s a whataboutism. The original question is why many US tech workers support open borders for tech labor when the supply increase primarily hits the wages and bargaining power of workers already here.
That's not what I am asking. I want to know why US-born people in tech is/was so pro open border when it clearly does not benefit US labor. You don't get a lot of push-back from within tech against these hiring practices.

I am trying to understand why US tech workers seem to be so Libertarian on open border immigration policy, when it clearly does not benefit them (downward pressure on salaries, immigrant ethnic cronyism, etc). Where does this attitude come from?
My tier 2 US tech Bay Area office is 80% immigrants from one country on visa (H1-B or OPT). They never say no, and they are willing to work any hours and take meetings at any time. 90% of management up to CTO is from the same country. This is for tech, its a little less lopsided in non-tech divisions. Most of them used this pipeline (I've checked LinkedIn): 2 years of non-spectacular experience in home country, cheap US master, possibly internship in US company with same ethnic makeup, then OPT, then shoot for the H1-B in company with manager from same country.
American grads now compete with ethnic hiring, foreign work morals, and possibly billions of people with not-so-impressive experience, which I assume is why we see the crowding out of locals. Add to that some groups generally having less scruples about cheating and lying in the application process, as well as being trained in school for passing tests rather than performance, and you get what we see now.

Several friends and myself have a really hard time finding a new job Canada (experience, and degree). What's your situation like?

It feels like there are surprisingly many loops to jump through to get a CS job, even with experience. In my previous career (finance), at most you got a test in addition to the interview. In CS nowadays you have to know all technologies, be a great leetcode solver, and have time/energy to drop everything and do a fullstack project in 2 days. Then most of the time you end up working on other...

It was a good experience. You'd learn more in 4 years at a brick and mortar since you spend more time and homework there. Great option if you already know much of the material though, but i think they only admit US and Canadian people.
I liked that it was async but still proctored exams, and they provided great access to teachers and so on.
ADD here, and therefore (I believe easily irritable by sounds). For me, sudden and infrequent sounds are worse for stress than "noise". I'm wuite OK with city noise but hate door slammers and bowling ball droppers.
You sort of get to see this in real time on Reddit, upvotes generally goes to stuff that upsets people.
Agree, with the odd doomer exception.

There has been some discussion going on here about how the net has become very spammy and full of auto-generated content. Would it be possible to create a new net without these problems without resorting to human moderation?

How will SEO break ChatGPT? Are there other risks that may have us ending up with an increasingly unusable product just like standard web search has turned out?

This might be a silly question, but how does your company make you aware of the time expected to finish a specific ticket?
I'm still new in this career, and get this feeling that everything needs to be finished as fast as possible. Is there a way in which I can feel more in control and therefore less stressed working under Scrum?
