Re:Ask HN: Whats the most you've paid for a Domain Name? on Friday February 03, 2017 @02:35AM (#13558385)
$5000. Use a domain broker like sedo.com to negotiate so the seller doesn't know who you are and how significant the domain name is to you. Bought several sub-$2000 domains this way. Don't assume that the broker can find the domain owner if it's a years-old registration.
It's been staying on my ear well with moderate exercise.
They've done a great job on the hardware and software. Having launched these kinds of products before, I appreciate the effort and care that they put into this product.
I've used http://www.mozenda.com in the past. Worked on some fairly complex Web directories with multiple levels.

Getting a credit card merchant account with good rates

If you’re in charge of managing your company’s credit card merchant account, you probably wonder if you’re getting the best possible rates. And people glaze over quickly when you bring up the subject…When my previous provider raised my rates, I started the dreaded search for a new provider. I've used Mozenda for Web scraping. They have a free trial and can scrape some complex formats, like drilling down several levels in a Web site or database. They can also parse PDF's.

Re:Balanced Makes Volume Pricing Public on Thursday January 09, 2014 @08:19PM (#7034441)
I've been dealing with credit card merchant accounts for our company for many years. The lack of transparency in the industry made it impossible to know if I was getting the best rates possible. Then I found http://www.cardfellow.com where major providers compete for your business. All bids are cost plus based, so you can do a real comparison of the bids. Rates are locked in for life. You can keep the gateway that you're currently using. I ended up with a different division of the same provider I was using, but at a much lower rate. This reduced my net merchant account cost by 3 percentage points. Give it a try. There's no cost. And I have no connection to CardFellow other than that of a very happy customer.

Ask HN: Outsourced call center?

We're a small company that produces consumer technology products. As sales and incoming call volume pick up, we're thinking about adding to our capacity by engaging the services of a domestic call center for handling inquiries and consumer sales. Most of what I've read about this in the past says it doesn't work out very well, which is understandable. Is anyone using an outsourced call center...
