Why open source AI models?

Why are big tech companies open sourcing AI models. What do they hope to gain? Unlike in case of Linux and Linux foundation, these corporations are for profit and it takes an unusually large sums of money to train these models?

This sounds interesting. I think trying to do something like cloudinary would be difficult since they are also using multiple replications across regions which won't be possible in your case as you will be storing the images in s3 and buckets will be region-specific what do you think about that?

Also, I would suggest don't keep it platform(Lambda) specific. With the rise of other platforms like Azure and GCP devs would want to deploy this on other platforms as well. Thoughts?

Presenting Aviacommerce(https://www.aviacommerce.org/) and open source e-commerce framework written entirely in Elixir(https://elixir-lang.org/).

Github: https://github.com/aviacommerce/avia

We are in the early stages of the development I would say. With the core engine mostly complete we think the framework is at a stage where developers can start to experiment with it.

Why did we work on it? Well, there are many open source options available but like everyone else, we think we can do a better job at it.

The docs are also at an early stage but enough to get started and have a system up and running in production.

Do leave your feedback on how can we make it better.

Thanks, Aviacommerce Team

PS: If you are looking to contribute in any way feel free to reach out. We'd love some outside help. Talk with us on gitter(https://gitter.im/avia-commerce).

Open source crowd funding platform

Dear All, we have been working on a crowdfunding platform as a not for profit initiative. We believe that the money which is given to the campaign creators should not be any less in the name of platform fees. There would be no upfront platform fees of any sort if your campaign get's funded. Our parent company of which I am a co-founder has decided to fund the platform as an open source and a...

Re:Ask HN: Any good ressources to learn Angular? on Sunday March 26, 2017 @06:58AM (#13960135)
While there are many good places to start, I would recommend you start with creating Heroes application on the official doc. Believe me, there is no other detailed explanation for an application. Link(https://angular.io/docs/ts/latest/tutorial/)

After you have completed that. I would recommend you checking out some open source applications out there. 1. AngularSpree(E-Commerce application) https://github.com/aviabird/angularspree 2. Yatrum(Travel application) https://github.com/aviabird/yatrum 3. Echoes(Music player) https://github.com/orizens/echoes-ng2
