That is unfortunately not how it works. Most commonly the place from which decisions are made on a day to day basis is used. This results in the country in which 50% or more of your directors reside for 183 days a year.
So if 50% or more of your directors spend 183 days per year in the UK then your Estonian based business becomes UK tax resident in the eyes of the UK.
Do not underestimate the complexity of these rules.
Exactly this. For some reason this is constantly being overlooked/confused. It is very possible to deploy these models inside your own VPC on the big cloud providers and have it be completely secure. I would argue that is even more secure than trusting a model provider’s native API as your traffic is not staying inside your own controlled cloud environment.
I live in the UK. Please for the love of all that is sweet and holy DO THIS! The only way our politicians will learn is if the public outcry is so fierce it makes them fear for their jobs.
A UK internet blockade might just get this going.
The writing perpetuates the anthropomorphising of these agents. If you view the agent as simply a program that is given a goal to achieve and tools to achieve it with, without any higher order “thought” or “thinking”, then you realise it is simply doing what it is “programmed” to do. No magic, just a drone fixed on an outcome.
Absolutely fantastic!! I love Botswana. I spent quite a lot of time in Gaborone for work. Growing up my home town was 80 kilometres from the Botswana border and we regularly visited friends there. I am so happy to see this news. Botswana has a special place in my heart. Well done Botswana! I can’t wait to see what else comes next.

I made a thing!!! Yes I know I should not be that excited but it feels great to release something.I have been busy building a RevOps partner in thought chat bot that uses an agentic framework to get different types of information to our users. (Gotta love the new word salad we have today ;D )As part of this work we needed to do entity extraction from text and get Python types or Pydantic models...
I second using Cody. It has been great for me. Being able to change models is fantastic.

I design and develop data platforms that solve unique business problems. Since 2006 my work has taken me across the globe and through multiple industries. I have used my knowledge to improve resource allocation in public healthcare in the UK, identify lost revenue for a telecoms provider in Botswana and transform a cybersecurity company's marketing and revenue operations in the US.
Your troll craft is somewhat lacking
Your observations are spot on. People are different and thus handle temperatures differently. The bit about humidity is absolutely 100% in line with my experience. I could handle -11 degrees C in Germany with clothing that would leave me freezing in the UK at -2 degrees C.
The same goes for handling heat and humidity. I grew up with average temps of 35 degrees C in a dry climate. It was not a problem at all. 28 degrees in high humidity I find unbearable.
That is unfortunately not correct. I grew up in a commonwealth country, have travelled to many others, and now live in the UK. Not a single person I know in either country has even the faintest idea what Fahrenheit numbers mean for temperature. It is never used in any way in these countries.
I have no idea where you have been hanging out on mastodon. My experience has been the polar opposite of yours. I have had more thoughtful conversations and interactions on mastodon in two months than what I had in many multiple years on other platforms.
I just came to offer my sympathies. That sucks in ways few will understand. Please tell me you have been spared from using Microsoft Teams...
This is the exact reason I am currently very uncomfortable with the idea of a new Macbook Pro for my own business use.
On the one had it absolutely makes life a lot easier and all the software I need runs great on it. On the other I would by buying into a device I simply cannot upgrade or maintain myself. This makes me extremely uncomfortable.
I dont want to run Windows as a daily driver since it is really jarring for my personal workflow etc. Yet Linux lacks quite a few of the essential pieces of software I need outside of development. E.g. (Krisp.AI, Reincubate Camo etc)
Rock <--> Hard Place
I think it is impossible to understand how much additional stress and anxiety being a parent of small children bring without being in that position.
I refer to it as the best kept secret of parenthood. No one tells you this until you are in it.
World War Z, the movie is far removed from the book and simply does not compare.
I second this! Absolutely love this book
The problem with MVPs is that they are effectively Microsoft sponsored marketing outlets. I know a few of them personally and they are great people but damn have they drunk the kool-aid.
I concur. I lived in London for 11 years and every cab I ever took the cabbie was always friendly and chatty.
Only if you get in and clear show you don’t want to talk will they refrain from engaging you in a conversation.
But it does apply to a lot, if not most, of the popular “crypto” out there.
Only until your wallet(s) address become known and then every single transaction you have ever made is visible to the state. This is the least “hidden” system on the planet.
You are absolutely correct. I have been working as an engineer with marketing departments of organisations and the degree to which these two sides can benefit a product or company when working together is phenomenal.
"If you build it they will come" is a sure fire way to have your hopes and dreams dashed on the rocks of reality. Marketing is as important as the dev skills to make a product happen. They are two sides of the same coin of success.
I really cant blame you for this. Please just keep in mind that, as mentioned in another post, the population is almost 50/50 split on this. It is not just the Scots that are caught in the middle. There is a large amount of English also opposed to this.
A lot of us have spouses from EU countries and we watch in horror as people like Priti Patel turns the UK into her version of 1984.
Chances are very high that those brits that travel to the EU, who might get this vindictive treatment, are not the ones that voted for Brexit.
Looks like the site is down. There must be an insane amount of traffic hitting it.
I agree. When it is the right solution to the problem at hand there is nothing better than a good streaming solution.
It goes for pretty much all technology, that you need to choose the right tool for the job. For some reason the marketing just gets most people all worked up and ready to fit problems into technology that was never designed for their problems.
So much this! As someone that regularly deals with data platforms and data engineering issues this nails it.
Today’s desire to make everything event driven and “real-time” boggles the mind. Solutions are contorted to fit the Kafka operating model.
The inevitable result is blog posts about how “we solved our self inflicted problems that would have never existed if we chose a sane design for our real problem. “
Oh and never forget that no senior stake holder ever really checks their info/dashboards in real time. Never mind actually making decisions in real time based on it.
