I have thrown out an old, mass produced paperback book that nobody wanted to buy out from me in 2 years it's been on my country website that's the most popular.

I guess I am criminal.

But it's fun. I used to watch Civ IV/Civ V playthroughs with all players being bots and it was weirdly entertaining, especially when you made "bets" who would win based on start / AI personality. Also, the one that's been doing that would write writeups based on that.

It is entertaining, just in a different way.

Respectfully, I would disagree with you on this statement. I don't feel that it is implying your point, or certainly not to that extent.

I am very interested in why you both chose to single Poles out with this, used lowercase AND used slur here.

> Like we either live in a world with freedom or we don’t, and like many Americans who have come before, I’m willing to give my life to fighting for it. That’s the real plan America deserves, not some totalitarian dystopia where you think you know what’s good for me better than I do. A nation of free men, not a bunch of pussies who are so worried about what their grown up neighbors might do.

Complaining that AI won't help you with covering up your tracks, with making meth or disabling drunk detection and comparing it to a totalitarian dystopia is a take for certain.

I do get his point, but... Being honest, if I did read it without knowing anything about the topic, I would become against local models purely because author arguments would seem like a lunacy. That and rhetorical tricks portraying that anyone against that must be surely insane.

Military will always like warm bodies ;)

Sometimes it's easy for me to imagine a bad future like this; where most of the men are forced into military as the only org that still has use for wetware, and women are valued only for their ability to birth new people...

But it is. My worth is based on what my value is, what I can do. What when I can no longer have any value on the job market?

What are those?

It's hard for me not to think what's the point. I am a very average, even below average person in times of intelligence. What is even my value or reason to be if I know anything I can do, LLMs can do better? What is even my value both on job market and as a human?

Does the website have geoblocking or did HN gave it a hug of death?
How can one work on that and not consider that they're pure evil?
Think of the shareholders and Capital. Money matters more than human, commie. /s

I have ADHD; I genuinely don't remember my childhood. If you told me my life started in secondary or high school, I would have believed you.

They do know, they just don't care. As long as it doesn't affect them, it's "not political".

Frankly, I am afraid. I see many takes here that resemble Russian way of thinking and being "apolitical" that I thought I'd never see from Americans.

If someone says they don't care about someone doing Nazi salute, I feel that speaks more about them.

A great lesson to show that you have no morals, indeed.
As Eastern European - please don't go to Eastern Europe. Keep your bullshit with yourself, we don't want Americans who will then wake up that we aren't their "Conservative, Christian paradise".
HN is flooded with anti-Europe sentiment recently. I don't know how much of it is Americans genuinely believing or, or if it's astroturfing.
Re:Completing a computer science degree on Coursera on Monday July 06, 2026 @06:50AM (#48802984)
It depends, as always. My Masters degree at a Polish (good) university was... Let's say I didn't learn anything during these three semesters and the only upside is that I have paper now.
Re:Completing a computer science degree on Coursera on Monday July 06, 2026 @06:49AM (#48802975)
Yup, in Europe I think almost every undergrad is either 3 years, or 3.5 if you are to get engineer title afterwards.

But then Masters is way more common to do afterwards compared to American system where it's rarity.

Thank you for sharing that, it is a good quote, I agree.
Re:Mir Books – Books from the Soviet Era on Saturday July 04, 2026 @04:59AM (#48783888)
Same in Poland. My civics teacher in high school was a historian.

He hated that, he wanted to be a lawyer. But he didn't get admitted to studies, so he had to pick something close in order not to be drafted, and so he stuck with it.

Re:Mir Books – Books from the Soviet Era on Saturday July 04, 2026 @04:15AM (#48783660)
For entrance exams though... At least in Poland, we had them as well. They were corrupt.

Cheating was rampant, and a very common way for getting admitted was paying professors from that uni for tutoring - who would train them on the type of tasks they would do at that uni.

And it prevented you from attending unis far away a lot of time due to time contraints.

Rereading that, my comment has been needlessly rude. For that I apologise, even if the point stands a bit still.

And you get feedback almost instantly.

Dreams are fun but they don't pay. And then you are earning scraps, and you realise that you'd prefer to be rich than to follow the dream for nothing.

I get that. In the time you'd learn about graphics programming, you could learn something else that would be able to give you a boost in the hiring market.

Article does seem quite interesting at a first glance, but I can't say I'm a fan of these GenAI headers at all.

In his About Me

> But now, thanks to AI, I can speed up the process significantly. AI helps me research faster, draft clearer explanations, and refine my writing—allowing me to finally share this knowledge the way I’ve always envisioned.

So I think he's writting articles himself and then running them through LLM to proofread and fix style, and so on.
