Why are semicolons mandatory? Wouldn't be cleaner without this restriction, like in Kotlin?
Re:The Vale Programming Language on Saturday June 18, 2022 @02:41AM (#31787711)
Given the possible confusion with Vale[1] and Vala[2], I suggest to rename the language to some new unambiguous name asap in order get more visibility.

Otherwise, it looks very promising!

No, look at the conclusion, there is no more gate for the ALU.

Same here! I am forwarding this article to all my coworkers!

I am currently using the Allwinner V3s, and the review is covering this part accurately.

It looks like you can even run Rust on a small BluePill board featuring an STM32F103C8T6 ARM Cortex M3 with a modest 64 Kbytes of Flash memory and only 20 Kbytes of SRAM: https://github.com/TeXitoi/blue-pill-quickstart
Re:ProtoThreads: Lightweight, Stackless Threads in C on Monday September 23, 2019 @01:02AM (#21046039)
Yes, and here is an implementation: https://github.com/naasking/async.h

Duff’s device along with the __LINE__ trick enables the creation of automatic DFAs useful to generate coroutines, protothreads and async/await alike.

Re:How to use LEDs to detect light on Wednesday August 29, 2018 @06:04PM (#17872473)
You can communicate using bidirectional LEDs: http://www.merl.com/publications/TR2003-35
It is not a "trick", it is one of the only possible ways to achieve Turing-completeness: code self-modification, conditional branches or extensive (exponential) computation (Zuse Z3).
Extract from http://www.inf.fu-berlin.de/inst/ag-ki/rojas_home/documents/...

"We can therefore say that, from an abstract theoretical perspective, the computing model of the Z3 is equivalent to the computing model of today's computers. From a practical perspective, and in the way the Z3 was really programmed, it was not equivalent to modern computers."

Re:Is Arduino no longer open-source? on Thursday June 15, 2017 @02:13AM (#14558264)
The answer to the question if these products are open source, the answer is: no.

Here is my blog post from more than 2 years ago regarding the status of the Arduino Yùn:

http://www.wifi4things.com/arduino-yun-what-is-under-the-hoo...

And here is my clarification request on the Arduino forum, which is still unanswered:

http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=187766.0

There is a big Diode D5 near the micro-USB power connector.
You are right, but today it is very difficult to get an extension to the 45 days period, unless you can provide a release date, as it has been abused so much in the past.
That is it, and the connector beneath the HDMI port is the same (but mounted) JTAG connector as the RPi2.

I don't know what is the chip, though.

Also noticed a 2-pin header between the 40-pin one and the upper USB ones: it looks like the "RUN" from the Rpi Zero.

EDIT: The 2-pin "RUN" header already existed on the RPi2, where the ceramic antenna is now located on the RPi3.

ESP32 is coming with both Wi-Fi and BLE: http://espressif.com/products/hardware/esp32/overview
It looks like the ceramic antenna is the light brown SMT between the DSi connector and the upper left hole in the top view pictures.
I don't think they did: the confidentiality period is now 45 days only by default, see http://acbcert.com/documents/misc-docs/Memo-Short-Term-Vs-St...

Certification took place at Track (now Element UK) on 2015-11-23, given the external picture dates, or 95 days ago, so it looks like it has been extended once.

Given that: - ATmega328P AVR CPU is ~$2 / 5k units - a 64 x 48 monochrome OLED display is ~$2 (<http://www.aliexpress.com/item/0-66-inch-oled-64-x-48-Amoled...) - Given its small size and simple shape, I estimate the mold for the enclosure to be ~$2000, so < $0.50 per unit

We are speaking of a $5 cost. Ok, let's get a margin and double this figure.

Even counting for Premium Worldwide shipping, I can't reach the listed price.

Re:Create diagrams in the browser on Sunday September 29, 2013 @06:20AM (#6464722)
Very nice for electric/electronic/logic diagrams!

Is there a way to connect elements (logic gates, transistors, etc.) inputs to outputs with auto-routing wires?

Re:Create diagrams in the browser on Sunday September 29, 2013 @06:16AM (#6464717)
You can export to SVG and "post-process" into Inkscape, don't you?
Re:Microduino: Arduino in your pocket, small, stackable, smart on Sunday September 22, 2013 @10:44AM (#6426770)
Thank you for your statement!

Without proof, it is very difficult to find out who is telling the truth, and I sincerely hope that this situation will be solved asap for the product's sake.

From a more technical point of view, the Microduino board looks like an interesting idea, but as Open Hardware, you won't be able to prevent people rolling their own board, although you can block them from using a registered name (is "Microduino" registered like "Arduino" is?).
