Re:FLAC – Format overview on Monday September 05, 2022 @04:37PM (#32729139)
It’s like a zip, but for audio. Uncompresses to the exact original.
I feel you... Web development is geared towards the "next hot thing" and can be very exhausting. Could it be an option to change your career path into a more management type role? Are you good with people? You might be a great mentor for junior devs?

Why was the previous thread deleted?

Re:TikTok overtakes YouTube for average watch time in US and UK on Monday September 06, 2021 @10:09AM (#28433793)
As a European: this is extremely funny. America has been doing this for years. Apparently only when it's not America doing these things it becomes a problem?
Thanks for the suggestion! However, that link takes forever to load. I gave up after 2 minutes.
So I can't go to this url because my browser blocks it:

*This site can’t be reached: guce.advertising.com’s server IP address could not be found.*

The internet in 2021 is such a nice place to be!

I switched from Brave to Bromite on Android.
Re:Civilization VI Built on Webflow on Sunday March 21, 2021 @07:26AM (#26529655)
This is an ad.
Re:React is Dead, Long live Reactive Rails on Wednesday October 07, 2020 @10:44AM (#24708773)
It is indeed very much out of place. But if you regularly do cocaine it isn't, if you know what I mean.
Thanks for hijacking my back button.
I understand this sentiment, I really do... but this layout/design is so simple to make I think a framework would be overkill and unnecessary bloat. This is coming from someone who does css for a living daily so your mileage may vary.
Why would you need a framework for this? Oh man this is so wrong...
"because the worst can happen is I will get more interesting ads" -> euphemism of the year.
Re:Firefox 70 on Tuesday October 22, 2019 @11:39AM (#21324890)
This is great news! I tried to switch to firefox to do my (frontend) development in, but I noticed serious slowdowns compared to Chrome with multiple tabs open. Going to give this another try!
Re:Richard M. Stallman resigns on Tuesday September 17, 2019 @08:30AM (#20994149)
Please provide evidence for this. I can't find anything describing the things you just typed.
In a world where money means everything such a paradigm shift is self explanatory.
Because they would be inclined to offer a better service as their competitors? They'd have to make more effort to please users. My guess is this would mean show less ads.
Re:Apple is now a privacy-as-a-service company on Tuesday June 04, 2019 @09:57AM (#20095035)
Well, for starters: xposed gave me a LOT of options to customize every aspect of my phone. Statusbar tweaks, screen brightness tweaks, deeper tasker integration, to name a few... for a tech savvy person with too much time on their hands it is heaven to be able to customize your phone so much more than what is initially "allowed".
Re:How true hackers write JavaScript on Wednesday September 05, 2018 @10:14AM (#17918137)
I would REALLY love to see the browser usage statistics for HN :)
Re:How to Design for the Modern Web [satire] on Thursday August 23, 2018 @10:48AM (#17827693)
This is funny and sad at the same time :')

Related: does anyone know if a good modal/popup/cookie-warning blocking plugin exists? It's come so far that surfing the web isn't fun anymore.

Re:Laravel Nova on Thursday August 23, 2018 @10:19AM (#17827443)
Looks nice. I was wondering if this is comparable to October cms? I've used that for some projects and it's really underrated imho.
