Right? Is the takeaway from that not just that Codex is better for cheaper?
Your moral judgment of this drug doesn’t make companies choosing to spend less on employee health a “wonderful thing”

Can we get an "Errors in the Errors in the Research of Emmanuel Saez and Gabriel Zucman"? Maybe using a jury of 4 LLMs this time

“there’s only one region of the world where civilian mass killings are regularly taking place at the moment, and it’s not the US”

It’s literally being done using US weaponry with the full backing of the US…

“These days, newspapers will collaborate to not acknowledge that a killer was a transwoman and not actually a woman.”

Assuming you’re taking about Tumbler Ridge due to the new FBI charges…

Nearly every article I saw about the new FBI charges mentioned the shooter and collaborator being trans.

Then it took me 2 seconds to find the NYT article from the week of the shooting which also mentions the shooter being trans. Obviously all the right wing outlets mentioned it… so what are you on about?

I’m with you on the point about putting state media out there to let people make their own decisions, but you lost the plot with the trans conspiracy theory nonsense

Subjective of course, but couldn't disagree more. These things are hideous and frankly epitomize, to me, that hype and not artistic value is driving value here

Yeah, I was very close to buying an Advantage 2 in the last week. Saw this, got super excited, then realized it wouldn’t be in my hands for another 5 months

Not sure what you're trying to imply with this comment. Outside of the workplace, I don't think anyone considers it inappropriate to get chatting with someone (read: NOT a coworker, especially not one you have power over) and later ask them out on a date. This happens probably millions of times in various settings every single night.

Bro people need money

Ask HN: How can I use my expertise to better my community?

With recent events and a relatively free summer ahead of me, it feels like an excellent time to give back and support causes I feel are important.I've been browsing local volunteering sites, but wanted to see if anyone knows of volunteer opportunities that I should look for or reach out about that specifically utilize a CS skillset. Or, examples of how people used CS-related skills to...

What I've found in using the technique is that anything lost in focus is more than made up for by insights gained during the break.

Taking your eyes off of a problem for a short time can often help you return to it with a different mindset / approach.

Re:Making an emperor bed on Wednesday July 18, 2018 @06:10PM (#17562474)
I liked the writeup + seeing it come together, but this project struck me as pretty wasteful.

How big of a bed do you really need? (even if "you" is two people).

I'm unsure whether this is exactly grade inflation, but both of those graphs can be explained by increased access to information.

Obviously people studied before, but our collective information about these standardized tests has become readily accessible.

Now, general test taking tips, test-specific guides, and even full courses on tests are available to everyone rather than those who could afford a book or a private tutor.

Ever hear of the Highway of Tears? Canada has its own racial issues.
Whether or not they live up to that purpose is another discussion, but at a base level the government exists to serve the people while (for-profit) corporations exist to make money. Regardless of cultural differences.
