Re:How we spent $30k in Firebase in less than 72 hours on Thursday August 02, 2018 @10:23AM (#17671577)
My company was part of a partner acceleration program, however you can apply to be part of the Google Cloud for Startups program here[1], without needing to be in an accelerator.

A current happy Google Cloud customer here, who also received the Startup credits. When you have credits on your account none of the alerts or budgets work (at least they didn't when I was using it). The only thing you could do is look at your figures daily and plan/scale based on the running total.

Looks great. Signed up for the waitlist (macOS).

Do you plan to offer template support? I would love to use this to create network diagrams.

Not true. I was looking for a hosted Postgres provider and discovered these two:

Purchased. For me tmux is amazing but I figure I only use the basics so far. Looking forward to reading this at the weekend.

But... why?

That review is from May, so it's for last year's version. This years has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card.

Although I expect the battery life to still not be up to the MBP level.

I know I have :)
I don't think it'll be "any day", from what I've heard online it's more likely to be Q1/Q2 2017.

A lot of the bigger sites are very slow from Brazil today :( And SP is also suffering from a lack of power in some areas. Happy Friday!

What did you replace redis-rb with, if you don't mind me asking?
Commodore 64, using Commodore BASIC - I was around 9 or 10 years old IIRC (which I don't!)
Re:Ask HN: How do you encrypt your laptops? on Monday May 30, 2016 @03:18PM (#11802627)
I did not know that, but at least they can't get my data. The machine is costly, but my work is much more so!
Re:Ask HN: How do you encrypt your laptops? on Tuesday May 24, 2016 @09:59AM (#11761528)
I use Mac OS X FileVault2, with a firmware password. It's incredibly easy to set up and should be good enough to protect my data from the majority of thieves.

Coupled with encrypted Time Machine backups and Arq[0] I feel relatively ok about losing my machine.

Re:Rack: Open-Source PaaS on AWS on Monday May 09, 2016 @04:37PM (#11662945)
Tbh I agree that as a descriptive name it works quite well.

However, it will muddy the waters for people trying to solve problems in future. For example, this tag on StackOverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/rack

Re:Rack: Open-Source PaaS on AWS on Monday May 09, 2016 @04:03PM (#11662678)
It seems naming things is still one of the hard things in Comp Sci: http://rack.github.io

Do you have a link to any studies that indicate/confirm this?

Is there any documentation on how to enable this yet?
