Re:Show HN: Deslop – Oxlint rules for AI-generated TypeScript on Thursday October 15, 2026 @07:55AM (#50102395)
Can't yet- at least not fully without the custom rule API, we have ~10+ lint rules across various repos and I don't want to run a hybrid eslint+oxlint thing.
I work on a project where we recently heavily pivoted into AI assisted feature development and without a extremely defensive/aggressive lint config and test coverage near ~80% most of these developments would be quiet impossible.

`no-reflect-get` is definitely one I'd adopt, claude LOVES `Reflect.get` for some reason

A lot of the lint rules in this repo remind me of https://github.com/sindresorhus/eslint-plugin-unicorn, I can't wait until oxlint has plugin support so I can move over to it.

There's been an ongoing service disruption according to https://downdetector.com/status/npm/

Very doubtful :)
Re:DRAM pricing is killing the hobbyist SBC market on Wednesday April 01, 2026 @06:15PM (#47607235)
Not everyone earns tech bro salaries and can sustain a thousand cuts. Many hobbiests are scraping and saving money to acquire hardware. For some it very well msy be the end of their world.

Ohhh exloitable.
Re:The silent death of Good Code on Saturday February 07, 2026 @07:56PM (#46930165)
Good code is extremely subjective, most bad code is built on a good code foundation. And most foundational software (think linux, ffmpeg, curl, v8, etc.) maintainers are pushing back.

Once AI/Agents actually master all tools we currently use (profilers, disassembly, debuggers) this may change but this won't be for a few years.

Are we defending billionaires again?
They do as the slop king Satya guides (yes).

PR is somewhat WIP-ish but I needed some motivation to do OSS work again :)

Re:Trying Out C++26 Executors on Wednesday December 03, 2025 @05:11AM (#46132671)
Is it just me or are the code examples of the executors absolutely unreadable/comprehensible without reading it 5 times?

Even with different formatters I'd much prefer the tbb variant.

How about executive compensation?

Is this an AI generated post?
Re:Vibe Coding Cleanup as a Service on Sunday September 21, 2025 @04:22AM (#45321008)
I've done a fair amount of vibe coding cleanup, ironically using a fair about of LLMs, a lot of leadership are under the false impression that more code means better product, their ignorance is my gain.
Ok, what is your counter argument?
Re:Implementing a Foil Sticker Effect on Tuesday September 02, 2025 @10:43AM (#45103772)
There seems to be some issues with the noise generation/randomness, there are patterns emerging when setting the flake count relatively high.
A lot of "engineers" nowadays don't know the concept of per-user/customers configs and how to build/expose them to non-technical staff.

The main appeal of feature flags is simplicity and being a low-hanging way to apply per-customer/user configuration, few platforms allow true a/b testing (amplitude comes to mind but I'm sure there are more).

Re:“No tax on tips” is an industry plant on Friday August 01, 2025 @03:39AM (#44754005)
My tips have been going down progressively, when I moved to the US I was taught 20% is "normal", now I tip 15% at MOST at restaurants and at MOST 5% on take out.

I'm tired of being shamed to pay more for less.

Also whoever was in charge of teaching staff to "turn away in shame" when the tipping screen is shown needs to go to some sort of gulag.

Re:The Useless UseCallback on Monday July 28, 2025 @07:16PM (#44716932)
I still don't 100% understand why `React.memo` is not applied by default, wrapping every single component in a `memo` is crazy overhead and non-trivial to enforce codebase-wide.

Sure performance is a concern but is recursive re-rendering really cheaper than memoing all props?

Re:Bypassing Google's big anti-adblock update on Saturday July 12, 2025 @04:24PM (#44544856)
Switched to Firefox yesterday, I suggest you do the same.
Having moved from the EU (Germany) to the US there seems to be a LOT of these bad-faith skirtings of reasonable laws, especially in automotive (eg. license plate screens, window tint etc.) where lack of enforcement is abused and will eventually lead to the penaltization of the general public.
Apparently VC(1) so far, I'd assume there will be LTS support contracts and tailored enterprise features down the line; for the moment I'd assume it's just a bunch of talented devs fixing problems they've been tired off / see as long term existencial threats to the python ecosystems.

Plenty of videos around, default rethoric is to 'give them time, they said it would hurt at first' which sounds awfully close what people in abusive relationships would say now that I think about it.

The censoring/redacting used here is insufficient, you can layer the censored text to recontruct sufficient text to identify the website.

Re:I made a tiny library for switches and sum types in Lua on Tuesday December 31, 2024 @01:05AM (#42556789)
Sorry but this is 12 lines of Lua code, what is the value proposition/use case here? I'm legitimately curious.
