The security fixed will be installed next tuesday.

We already see this in car interfaces. Clearly designed by people that don't drive, or at the very least have not tested it themselves while driving.
Gov. logins and services should never depend on companies like Google.

God this happens all the time. Software written by people that don't use the software themselves. It has happened to me so many times, I come across a piece of software with weird bugs or interactions that would be immediately fixed if the developer just spends 5 minutes using the software like an end user would. Dogfood all the things!

The first two seasons were really good. So good it kinda surprised me on a rewatch. After that it went downhill though.

Oi, you have a loicense for that mate?
I have an Amazfit Balance 2 and it does GPS just as well as any other smartwatch and you can turn off all the body surveillance.

I hear some pops and clicks every now and then when playing music... Using Vivaldi 8.1.4087.56 (Official Build) (64-bit).
Re:98.css on Friday July 24, 2026 @12:31AM (#49031243)
Not only flat design but also using less color. We have monitors and graphics cards that can display millions of colors now and we refuse to use it... Not that it has to look like a coloring book but sheez Windows 10 and 11 make me feel depressed.

Is there a watercolor.css? (XP beta theme).

Some car tuners are very jealous of your domain name...
Re:JEP 540: Simple JSON API (Now in Incubator) on Thursday July 23, 2026 @01:42PM (#49025396)
minimal-json scratches this itch really well for me. Dead simple API. Unfortunately not maintained anymore, but I'm still using it, even for new projects, because it just works so well.
Re:Bijou64: A variable-length integer encoding on Friday May 29, 2026 @11:44AM (#48324675)
This seems quite convoluted just to avoid the "0 can be represented in more than one way" problem.
Re:Vivaldi 8.0 on Thursday May 21, 2026 @06:31AM (#48220400)
Which is not Firefox's fault. It's up to the operating system to provide a stable API to make things like this work.
Re:From Supabase to Clerk to Better Auth on Wednesday May 06, 2026 @04:08PM (#48041079)
By the time you're so big you need all of that, there will be other people at the table to "hack that in".
And 4 years old... I wouldn't buy this new
Re:Trademark violation: Fake Notepad++ for Mac on Monday May 04, 2026 @06:18AM (#48006741)
Is notepad++ a registered trademark?
Re:中文 Literacy Speedrun II: Character Cyclotron on Friday April 17, 2026 @01:37PM (#47808462)
Anything similar to that for Japanese?
Re:5NF and Database Design on Tuesday April 14, 2026 @03:47PM (#47770536)
Me still using bigints... Which haven't given me any problems. Wouldn't use it for client generated IDs but that is not what most applications require anyway.
Does it need it?
Re:IPv6 address, as a sentence you can remember on Wednesday April 01, 2026 @08:49PM (#47608669)
I don't understand how the mapping works. An address has 8 parts and produces 16 words, so each part consists of 2 words. If we take the example 2a02, that gets encoded to "how atop", but I don't see how that text helps me that "how atop" means 2a02? Am I suppose to memorize both? How does that help?
Re:Show HN: X86CSS – An x86 CPU emulator written in CSS on Tuesday February 24, 2026 @06:17AM (#47135701)
Definitely in the "they didn't stop to think if they should" category.
Re:DialUp95 – A 90s inspired nostalgia hit on Saturday February 21, 2026 @02:05PM (#47103646)
About 15 years ago I gave some networking courses at a local education center, it was all young kids (18-20 years old). When I told them that the speed we got back in the day was 4 kilobytes per second (56k on a good day), they didn't believe me at all.

I remember Technics used to advertise with amplifiers that used bamboo somewhere in the capacitors? Always wondered if there was actual bamboo in there somewhere and what the electrical effects were...
