That's because the XPS were built to run ubuntu. You can even buy one with it pre-installed.
Re:Immunotherapy Is Changing Cancer Treatment Forever on Monday July 15, 2024 @04:02PM (#40971017)
Anybody know why MRNA cancer vaccines didn't work out?

seems like it's almost the same methodology in making the immune system target specific proteins.

The internet is weirdly quiet about this achievement
Re:Intel to Receive $8.5B in Grants to Build Chip Plants on Wednesday March 20, 2024 @05:19PM (#39772151)
IIRC The original chips act had a provision that companies would have to train and hire X% of non-white/non-asian engineers.
Re:Expanding Our Partnership with Google on Thursday February 22, 2024 @04:26PM (#39473488)
Yeah.. Reddit shouldn't be relying on community moderators for larger subreddits.

They need paid people.

Then you have to find a way to store it.

Huh, if your electricity prices are low enough, it can quite worth it
Re:Meta to Layoff 10k Employees on Tuesday March 14, 2023 @09:19AM (#35150975)
It's not just bloat. It's also shitty devs that create more work for everybody else.
Yet , countries with the highest crime rates have the toughest punishments.
I think in Germamy the danger of radiation is overblown. It's really hard to get any radiation damage from low intensity sources.

Hell, even chernobyl is projected to cause at most 4k premature deaths over 50+ years.

Re:The UK is wasting a lot of wind power on Thursday January 12, 2023 @04:49PM (#34360734)
Because storage is hard and expensive.

Generating energy is easy (with renewables).

Re:Why do bees die when they sting you? on Monday December 26, 2022 @09:22AM (#34137776)
Because wasps don't live in large colonies. Thus losing one wasp would be more damaging than the risk of infection.

Also wasp nests aren't as hot and humid as bee hives

Re:EU Hydrogen Infrastructure Map on Friday December 16, 2022 @06:27AM (#34013362)
They'll do anything to not build nuclear
There wasn't much bureaucracy in the 70s. The reactors built in the 70s in France are as safe as they get.
A 30 year old reactor is hardly an old one.

You can use them for 50-70 years

If you had tons of nuclear, you would have people switching to electric heating.
Re:Apple Execs on iMessage for Android (2013) on Monday November 07, 2022 @04:44AM (#33503581)
Russia is the same.

Imo it has to do with perceived status of owning an iPhone.

Re:Fed increases target rate to 3.75-4.00% on Wednesday November 02, 2022 @02:41PM (#33440869)
I dont get it. Prices are rising because fossil fuels are more expensive.

How do interest rate hikes fix that?

Re:How I make a living working on SerenityOS on Saturday October 29, 2022 @02:41PM (#33386801)
If you're earning 1.8k eur in Sweden with 5 years of experience, you're doing something really wrong.

In Latvia, a much poorer EU country you're looking st 2.5k at least woth 5 years of exp.

Re:Modern PHP features explained – PHP 8.0 and 8.1 on Thursday October 27, 2022 @11:21AM (#33358924)
I don't think people's proglem with PHP are the semicolons and $ variable declarations.

It's mostly legacy stuff like built in function naming.

Re:One Store’s Decision to Leave San Francisco over Crime on Thursday October 27, 2022 @09:27AM (#33357164)
Most people in the comments are jumping on the guy for "Not doing enough" and calling for more "support services". And housing the homeless and etc.

Why don't big cities in Texas have the same problems with crime? I don't think TX has more social programs than SF.

Re:One Store’s Decision to Leave San Francisco over Crime on Thursday October 27, 2022 @09:12AM (#33356963)
That sounds ironic
TBH I wouldn't be surprised.

The obsession with renewables has hurt Europe beyond measure.

People are still living in Chernobyl.

He'll, they're growing food there that gets sold to Europe, cos it has below the standard level of contamination.

CF for Solar in Germany is 11.6%.
None of those either. Chernobyl caused very few cancer deaths.
