Slick video indeed. Although the actual experience in real life could be less exciting without the Dubstep soundtrack. I'll be amazed if this is actually good or takes off (globally).
I do like to be amazed.
+1 A mentor is always a great thing to have and can really speed up the rate at which you improve. However, better than just any mentor is one who thinks, or sees things the same way you do. Working together on problems will result in dramatic improvements if the mentee has the right attitude.
Thank you for suggesting this. An excellent book it seems.
What if you are more effective/productive in 16 hours than they are in 40? Wouldn't this warrant a higher salary?
In the past, when I was younger, I was addicted to numerous games including WoW, FFXII, C&C, Counter-Strike, TFC. But one day whilst playing WoW I thought "Why am I here grinding levels in a game? I should be grinding levels in life.".
I uninstalled everything and made a conscious decision to grind by learning and living. Sure, I still zone out with video games from time to time but I start to get uncomfortable after an hour and stop, very casual. For me, I realised I was wasting my life and it was making me unhappy.
[Edit: Typos]
I suppose I'm looking for a small-medium sized project with an elegant architecture/design including correct use of exception handlers, inheritance, class factories etc. I'm not bound by any particular version of C# or any particular area, I suppose I am coming from a coding standards point of view rather than the nitty-gritty. Elegant, re-usable, correct, maintainable and also aesthetically pleasing (readable) is what I'm looking for.

It is often said that reading and studying well written code can improve your own ability to write good code. What are some examples of exceptionally well written C# code or the names of people who's code should be read?(As an aside, any links\tips\techniques people have for finding excellent code in other languages are also appreciated but I'm primarily interested in C# examples specifically at...
I would be interested to know what these apps are? Who buys them? Where do you sell them? I never found a decent place to sell WPF desktop apps.
The site is so annoying I didn't even read the content. Terrible.
Wow, I listen to these 4 constantly. Really helps me get stuff done. Good choices!
Glasgow University teaches Haskell to 2nd year students.
Kudos to you for building this.
I actually had a netflix free trial about 6 months ago, but searching for content on offer was awful. I actually didn't take a subscription because I didn't think the collection of movies/tv shows was of high enough quality or large enough, but perhaps I just couldn't find what I was looking for!
Excellent work. Thank you.
I do think that most hacking scenes in movies\tv shows and the language used in them is generally terrible. I'm not sure that hacking will ever make interesting viewing for the masses.
That said, I did like the futuristic looking GUI's actually. I didn't think they were completely rediculous but still looked pretty cool, I mean, the audience need something to look at. A man talking nonsense about polymorphic obfuscation probably isn't enough on its own.
Is it possible to even make GUI's like the ones in Skyfall and slap them on real applications? Can WPF make things look that good? I'd be interested to know what tools are needed to build GUI's that look like that.
