Re:Ask HN: My SaaS idea was bad, need alternative part time job

3 Yes's out of 37 is not a bad metric to go off of, unless you're in a micro-niche and 37 customers is all there is. What is the market as a whole? By yes, are they bringing out a checkbook and saying "can I get it now"?
As for work, I'd suggest checking out the several freelance sites out there: guru, freelancer, etc. Hope this helps!
Re:Ask HN: Would you pay a monthly subscription for automatic gas?
on Friday February 08, 2013 @08:42AM (#5187765)
There is definitely a cost-benefit analysis to run. How much is my time worth to me, how much gas do I use up in a month, what is the price of gas, and how much we this service cost?
I think that there certainly is a market for this sort of service, however I'd need to know a little bit more about the specifics to give a better answer.
Re:I want to start a synthetic biology company, now what?

I apologize for my noncommittal question. I currently hold a master's degree (that I recently completed) in bioengineering. I am completely committed to making this a reality. I am only unsure of how to move forward in regards to governmental regulations, patent concerns, and if I should further my education in the field or not. What are your thoughts?

I currently have a masters degree in bioengineering, do you believe that a PhD is required to create a SynBio startup?

Thanks for your reply, and I apologize for my tardy response. I'm interested in the whole field of Synthetic Biology, with no particular research focus. From my understanding, synthetic biology is able to solve many world problems. This includes creating machines from synthetized components to solve the "particular problems" of the world, including ending world hunger, curing disease, solving our energy crises, and uplifting the human condition.
To add to my ask HN response: I have an master's degree in bioengineering, so I am no stranger to the field. I am unsure of where to focus my studies to maximize my contribution to the field. I hope that helps.

I too find it very cool. I first viewed it via mobile on my iPhone and found the "get started" page wouldn't load. I then noticed that it hasn't been set up for mobile yet. However, after viewing it in a browser I am very impressed. Look forward to it being optimized for mobile browsing!

I've always enjoyed seeing what other startups choose for their stack. With your thoughts on heroku, what do you think about the new Google Cloud aimed at competing with AWS?
