I have been reading 'The immortal life of Henrietta Lacks' by Rebecca Skloot.

It's a fascinating read on how loose the ethics were when experimenting with African Americans back then.

This book also makes me wonder about the current practices, which we do "normally", that the future scientists will consider downright crazy.

Finally started (again) learning rust!

So many more languages have been added to the basket after reading: https://www.norvig.com/21-days.html

You can read it in light mode too! Try looking at the text from an extreme angle and the text underneath will show up.

I have the same experience! When I asked someone for help, they (on my face), opened claude and started asking it.

I recount it here: https://blog.papermatch.me/html/Wheres_the_human_touch

Re:Maladaptive Frugality on Friday May 01, 2026 @12:57AM (#47971435)
Yes! I related a little too much with the blog post. My grandparents were Sindhi and they had to flee from Pakistan to India during the partition. As refugees in India, they had to start their life basically from scratch. Now I get why it's ingrained in me to be frugal, and even take pride in it when there's none. I see the very same behaviour in my Sindhi friends when they feel bad for spending money on essentials like hospital visits.

Yes please!
Re:Ask HN: How can we solve the loneliness epidemic? on Thursday January 15, 2026 @08:44PM (#46642018)
I agree with this so much! I've found that going to people and initiating is the only thing you can do. How people respond varies a lot and you have to be resilient to rejection.

There was a post[1] sometime back about just having coffee in the afternoon outisdes and how that brought in more people.

I also write about it here [2].

Re:Tailscale for Kindle (KUAL) on Thursday November 20, 2025 @01:37AM (#45989629)
This (very) simple repo allows you to connect your kindle remotely from anywhere using Tailscale VPN.
Shameless plug.

PaperMatch [1] helps solve this problem (large influx of papers) by running a semantic search on top of abstracts, for all of arXiv.

I am so sorry you went through this. How are you doing now?

I got an ICL (Intra Collamer Lens) implant at 22 (25 now) and that ruined my night vision with ghosts and glares.

There is a famous video from Hitachi[^1] showing the Youngs double slit experiment[^2]. You may like it!

Thank you for sharing the paper!
