Glad to see QNX still progressing. I worked there as an intern twice in Ottawa and they're pretty damn good. Great place to work imo. I met some of the kernel devs there. Had the priviledge of working with one and he taught and demoed some of the kernel features to me. They gave us interns a full summer course on kernels, C programming, OS and some hardware. Fun times.

I worked at QNX twice as a softwarte engineering intern during my college days in 2019 and 2021 on their OS security features and testing. Can say it was an unforgettable experience and I learned a lot there. The senior devs there are amazing.
May I ask what kind of crypto company are you working for?
Re:Ask HN: Should I study CS or Law? on Friday October 22, 2021 @03:30AM (#28954538)
not to mention, with CS you have the freedom of easy to go anywhere in the world to work, granted you have a visa or a work permit of some sort. With Law its more tricky since different jurisdictions require you to pass exams first to make sure you know how the law works in that particular country. Just something to think about.

Do CS. I also did the IB program, and now am studying a double Major in Math + CS while only having Standard level Math. Im 22. I have worked internships and it's mad fun too. Law seems so boring to me, just paperwork if you ask me. I know it's more than that but it's difficult to become a Barrister.

I must add, try not to focus on the money aspect. It is important but try to study CS out of enjoyment of the material rather than the prize. It's about the journey not the destination.

Re:Ask HN: Did you quit smoking cannabis? If so, why? on Friday July 16, 2021 @06:32PM (#27861961)
Your situation sounds similar to mine! I used to smoke pot everyday from morning to evening and code throughout. When I first started it went alright, but after about a year I started to see negative side effects. I felt like I couldn't come up with 'smart' code anymore and often felt unmotivated. I tried to stop on my own but it was next to impossible. I've moved back home to live with family and have them keep an eye on me. I would still smoke a bit during the evenings but being sober now throughout the day and coding is such a blessing. I can actually think!

Doing a Doing masters in Math or CS when I don't have a good GPA?

I am entering my 4th year of university doing a Major in Math and minoring in CS. I came to uni to try to get a Major in CS but there was a grade cutoff and I didn't make the cut. Luckily I was able to get the Math Major and have been doing it till now. My GPA hasn't improved however, and I am sitting close to a 2.0. I will graduate but with such a GPA, is grad school even worth thinking about?...
