Currently, it is not (C++, mostly C style). As far as I can remember, Bill has previously said that a self-hosted version of the compiler might be a possibility, _after_ the 1.0 release and when the full spec of the language has been written.
I think they call those prisons. /s
But seriously, I don't know how much I'd trust society to care / keep funding such schools, or people working there to that with enough empathy and motivation for too long.
The sentiment that (even low-level) criminals in prison are trash, that deserves the worst instead of rehabilitation, is I feel too wide-spread for me to think it would be different.
But yeah, I might be too cynical here.
Conversely, it also ingrains the lesson that it is ok to abuse anyone weaker than you A) if you know you can get away with it (because someone stronger is not always around/aware/inclined to intervene), or B) because that is just normal / the way the world is.
No, I think it was meant literally. Like the IT Crowd skit where Jen refers to the Internet Explorer desktop shortcut as "the button for the internet".
"The author" in above comment refers to the author of the port. So, yes, thats what they meant.
Sue who? Youtube? The claimants?
A fraudulent claimant like this is often some anonymous operation that can pop up under a different name the next day. Good luck finding them (and hope they are even located in a place where suing for copyright would even make sense).
Youtube is protected by their terms and the DCMA, as far as I know.
I'm interested in the opposite direction too. If the iPad could do real phone calls and sms, I would ditch mobile phones. In the process I'd hope to reduce some screen time. I could live with Pod+Pad+Watch, but I doubt they'd ever make that happen :(
I doubt they'd just add a UUID in a file header somewhere. If they uniquely modify the actual audio samples in a way that is inaudible during casual listening, that would be much harder to "diff", I think.
Does it need to? Unfortunately, a threat of a lawsuit by a large company is weapon enough to make people buckle.
Could you elaborate on which features are premium only? Or maybe also put them in the AppStore description? I tend to be averse to even downloading apps with IAP, without knowing what they are going to be.
> How many give you a 25% discount on top of that? Nobody.
Because they are not allowed to sell the game cheaper elsewhere if they also want to sell on Steam. Their dev ToS require that.
There is also the amazing Franzoli Electronics with his tesla coil music. Great selection of tracks. from AC/DC - Thunderstruck to Megalovania - Undertale OST, you'll find something you like:

My best guess would be: selecting with the mouse from the left until the (first two?) arabic characters, then extending the selection using the right arrow key while holding shift. Might be that the arrow key skips the cursor to the right side before extending the selection.
As far as I know they are using a customised variant of the "wave-function collapse" technique, used and popularised by Oskar Stalberg in his games "Bad North" and "Townscaper".
The technique boils down to hand-crafting tons of tiles with adjacency rules about which tiles can slot together. When the user adds/removes a tile the algorithm iteratively tries to find fitting tiles and, if needed, changes neighbouring tiles for ones with the best transitions.
He gave a talk where he goes into detail about this[1]. You can also find more if you google his name and "wave-function collapse".

I would be very interested in a more detailed write-up, if you have the time (or have one already).
What does it achieve to be snarky to someone who can do nothing about it?
Yes, and an individual's convictions remain static forever and cannot be influenced by others. You can't convince me otherwise.
Your argument sounds tautological.
For not being a charity they seem to gladly accept a lot of free volunteer work and free content created for them.
I'd say in terms of value to the platform they got a great deal.
Am I misunderstanding something or is this not just replacing one password with two salts and another password? What benefits would this have over just generating a password?
> It is learning from it just as a human reader would
I don't see how that invalidates the copyright/license argument. So, instead of just a straight up license violation it's a license violation via plagiarism.
That argument wouldn't hold up even if it was a human that caused the violation. You can't just paraphrase someones licensed work and then lie about looking at and pretend you made it yourself, which is basically what seems to happen with co-pilot, as it doesn't also automatically reproduce the license of the code it reproduces.
Except if they purchase a subscription to these benefits through one of the two companies (same parent company) that provide them. The subscriptions are of course competitively priced, since they only have the best interest of their customers at heart.
Another one for the non-tech pile:
Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't: https://youtube.com/c/CrimePaysButBotanyDoesnt
A foulmouthed, self-taught botanist walking through deserts: urban, sub-urban and actual; talking about the origins and habitats of plants he encounters, while slagging off shitty city planning, dying lawns and ocasionally, Wholefoods.
I didn't know these worked on YouTube as well and not only on Google. Thank you! I guess this will have to do for now :/

from the ask-hn dept.
I recently started to notice how more and more videos in the results of a YouTube search have absolutely nothing to do with the search term. It looks like these videos are injected recommendations based on watch behaviour or even just trending videos. Here is a real example: https://i.imgur.com/Vu9V6jg.pngFirst two videos are relevant to the search, third is relevant to my other watch interests...
Another downstream consumer is the Unity Hub (software to download & manage Unity Engine versions) via Vue.
