But Yellen said it's fine, and 3 trillion in new green scam spending is needed to save the world.
That is ridiculous.

Both the commission and the parliament are controlled by socialists (of various kinds).

It's wildly insane to assume one can simply "know" who "needs help".

It's even worse to assume that a person - regardless of whether they can or can't easily tell - would be motivated to find out if they weren't handing out own food or money.

What does that even mean?

The EU doesn't need Finland's "vote". It's decided at the EU level.

Re:Soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand on Sunday July 23, 2023 @02:07AM (#36832934)
Insightful... not.

If Elon cared about maximizing ROI on that 44 BN, he wouldn't have bought Twitter.

Btw the amount of damage done to the cults of DIE, ESG, climate, globalism, and statism since last November has been multiple times greater, and done completely on Elon's dime. I really appreciate that. If the US Gov knew this beforehand I think they would have done something to prevent it.

Re:Is sequential IO dead in the era of the NVMe drive? on Tuesday May 09, 2023 @04:07PM (#35879709)
Far from it, sequential IO optimization isn't dead.

Sequential reads need to be optimized to produce optimal performance for selected workload. That usually means applying a lower level of inline compression.

In some cases deduplication works better before, in other after, compression. Sometimes post-process dedupe is more suitable than inline.

Then there's erasure coding and data protection methods that are still being optimized for NVMe with sequential workloads, including random workloads which are being sequentialized to work better with latest flash media.

I would even say developments in sequential IO are becoming more important than random IO.

Re:Netflix Loses 1M Users in Spain over Password Policing on Wednesday April 26, 2023 @04:58AM (#35711080)
If you lose users (and costs) but not customers, that's not so bad.
> Thirdly, even 800 deaths would be quite little compared to Covid19.

1) Sorry, but your opinion doesn't count.

2) Mabye based on tuned "died with antibodies" gov stats and when comparing to this single issue.

3) There's been more than enough deaths from fake vaccine to initiate lawsuits against Big Pharma and Big Gov. Florida has started investigating, other states are sure to follow in '23.

The issue of blod clots has been known for many months and governments continued to force fake "vaccines" on employees and even contractors.

Re:Law and order among the anarchists (2020) on Monday December 12, 2022 @10:14PM (#33964287)
David Friedman's work on this topic is interesting, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PnkC7CNvyI for example.

I think courts would be private as well, and you'd live in a jurisdiction of your choice.

I also think that jurisdictions that didn't enforce court orders from other jurisdictions would be black-listed by those jurisdictions. Furthermore, individuals from a black-listed jurisdiction would be stigmatized in, or barred from entering the jurisdiction that couldn't obtain their cooperation.

There has to be a cost attached to unreasonably uncooperative behavior.

Complete nonsense.

The Fed isn't supposed to address any "issues", but simply be neutral.

Instead they've spent a century saving entities that socialized private losses.

So what? It's not his fault the US didn't let him go elsewhere. And this isn't worse than his previous situation.

He wouldn't have to do this if crimes he uncovered were properly prosecuted and punished.

Re:We're moving away from swap partitions on our Linux servers on Saturday October 15, 2022 @11:35AM (#33215713)
Uh, I moved to swap files 10 years ago and more recently to no swap.

I didn't find it necessary to blog about it.

Re:Bitcoin in crosshairs as EU goes after non-green crypto on Saturday October 01, 2022 @09:50PM (#33051986)
Bitcoin sucks for any purpose, but Monero is also PoW.

Which may be why they don't single out Monero in order to not reveal its about taxation and control as much as it is about climatism.

Those 87K new IRS agents Biden is hiring will be busy.

They said it was to catch tax-cheating billionaires. Oops. "Sorry, we lied".

It's time for average Americans to benefit from personalized IRS service! "Claw back better."

They've already been demystified by many, from Snowden over Greenwald to Trump.
Re:Days are getting longer. Scientists don't know why on Tuesday September 20, 2022 @02:46AM (#32908502)
Such incompetence!

They should recruit some climate scientists - those guys know everything and can predict what will happen in the distant future.

Re:The absurdity of Europe burning wood for energy on Saturday September 17, 2022 @07:14AM (#32876558)
Yes and no.

There is no better way to train sheeple - and in fact get their support - digital IDs, "personalized carbon allowance" and other components of EU's Big Leap Forward.

15 years ago Maoist policies and Soviet-style rationing in the EU seemed completely impossible. Now it's becoming a matter of necessity.

WEF has some nice ideas in store for you guys!

I was reluctant to click on the link expecting another Java project, but it seems to be based on Go. Refreshing. Maybe I'll give it a try.
Re:About Lockdown Mode on Wednesday September 14, 2022 @09:08PM (#32845722)
I don't care, as long as they make Lockdown Mode secure for my main app.

I'll get an Android phone if I want choices in situations where I don't need them.

Hetzner, OVH, DO, etc. have already increased their prices.

Google and Azure can't (yet) because AWS hasn't so far. But with the continuous harassment of cloud providers by the useless eaters from Brussels, I bet that's only a matter of time.

The replacement will be available "in coming months" and the app will be maintained until December (and probably work until 2023), so the two will likely overlap while a simpler Web app is already available today.

Where do you see a problem?

I use MS Teams (Preview) on Linux. It's good enough for chat, doco sharing and other stuff it does. I don't give a crap about galleries, reactions and whatnot.

Re:Covid learning loss has been a global disaster on Sunday July 10, 2022 @05:26AM (#32043123)
Didn't seem to be a problem for The Economist in 2020 and 2021 - I checked a couple of older articles and and they said there wasn't right or wrong - it simply depended on what data were keyed in to the technocrats' policy models.

Any advice on where the affected parents and children can get $5-10K for tutoring so that their kids can catch up? Is the WEF running any give-aways these days?

Those stats are meaningless. As opposed to what? Where are real incomes increasing? France? Belgium?

Real incomes are decreasing everywhere, but slower in countries where governments serve the people rather than globalists and climatists as is the case in the UK, EU and North America.

Re:Hertzbleed Attack on Wednesday June 15, 2022 @04:33AM (#31750487)
Doesn't make any sense - there's no benefit to Intel (why would anyone order more CPUs?) and there's much more downside from all other customers.
> The UK is in far worse shape because Brexit has nuked a huge hole in the economy. 4% is about £80bn a year.

The EU lost the exact same amount in that exchange and had to substitute it with inferior or more expensive goods and services from elsewhere.

So no, the UK is not in far worse shape as they can open up to the rest of the world and the EU cannot because it's built around the principles of self-isolation and trade barriers.

Why the UK hasn't done as much after Brexit is a different problem. Sadly, Johnson has turned to be useless, although not nearly as useless as May. I'd like to see a "UK Trump" take over for a while. It's very hard to do worse than the two main parties.
