A 40% price increase compared to pre June pricing, a 60Hz display (that’s likely just software locked), and still starting at 128GB of storage.
I was actually excited for this, but now I’m going to pass.
We have standard labeling since 2021, the problem manufactures don't use it.
I need at least 100W, but I’m fine with 480 Mbps. There really is no single baseline that works for everyone.
If you're happy with the base model, then Apple has a great value/price ratio, but there's nothing below it and any upgrade is really bad value for the money.
I went from 34"(3440x1440) which felt a little bit small to 38"(3840x1600) and it is nearly perfect. I can have my main window in the middle and 2 or 4 smaller windows (logs, chat, youtube, etc) on the side.
The only thing I want now is double pixel density.

The problem with third party cookies that it can track you across multiple websites.
Sometimes I wish software development didn’t pay so exceptionally well. I’m interested in so many other things, but it’s hard to justify switching to another full-time field, knowing it would mean a significant pay cut.
I don't think they really need to. You can have the base model with the same specs, but let me configure it with a better display. I can currently spec up a Mac Mini without any problem.
The second option is to bring back the MacBook brand for entry level devices and use the Air brand for "Pro" devices that don't require active cooling.
Doesn't matter to me if I still have to buy the chunky Pro to get a decent display.
The current Air is great as an entry level device, but there is an underserved segment here.

Merry Christmas HN'ers!I hope you had a great 2024. If you were effected by economic downturn, then keep strong 2025 will be better!
I lived in multiple places in Europe and it was the same.
There is a strong difference here: Smartphones are kind of essential to our modern life, game consoles aren't.
I attend 1-3 meetups a month, the recent changes made it unusable for me. They want $10 a month just to check who will be attending. I don't say they should provide everything for free, but that pricing is ridiculous.
I really appreciate HN's simplicity and functional design. I mis one or two features (like unread messages), but I rather have less than a bloatware.

All WizzAir planes have 3-3 seatings.
Half Life was one of the games that has native ports an run fine on OSX before Catalina.
The same thing happened to me and my SO. I few years ago we moved to the UK from Hungary. Most of the past contribution was removed.

There are only two types capabilities of a cable speed (480 Mb, 5Gb, 20Gb, 40Gb or 80Gb) and power (60W (3A) or 240W (5A)) everything else is depends on the host.
There is no such thing. It's only depends on the USB version.

You can look at it from a different angle, that you pay $150 less for pretty much the same headset, as the more expensive one paid the research.
I can argue that why do I have to pay 1000$ for a software, when the hobby tier is free, it is pretty much the same application.
Maybe they didin't calculated the digits, like this:
if toInt(number) % 10 != 0
print number
else
print number + "(" + number[0] + "," + number[1] + ")"
The funny thing I joined a company where we building a database from the ground up. Regularly implementing algorithms and data structures from white papers. So it is as far from the crud style work as possible. The interview was just talking to different engineers about interesting problems, like you would do at a conference or at a meetup. No leetcode, no whiteboard, no take home or resembling a technical interview. But somehow they managed to build a top notch team, one of the best I ever worked with.
But you can make a "new service" in code in the same binary communicating through memory. You can then separate it to a separate binary, when the network and serialisation overhead worth it. 80% of the time it will never come.
