supersonik.ai | Founding Software Engineers | ONSITE Barcelona (we help relocate), REMOTE (exceptional cases) | Full-time

We just raised a $5M seed from a top-tier fund to build real-time AI agents that interact through voice and complex UI automation. The technical challenges are really big. We're hiring founding engineers: people who love coding, hacking, and building hard things from scratch.

You'll join early, have ownership from day one, and work alongside a team in Barcelona (we'll help you move). Remote is possible, but only for extraordinary cases.

If this sounds like your kind of challenge, email us: hiring at supersonik.ai

Ask HN: How are you using AI with your kids?

Lately I've been thinking a lot about how I want my children to interact with AI, and I realize that there's not much tooling around parental control or behavioral control of the AI. I was thinking, for example, to have my own GPT with some prompt engineering to make sure the LLM doesn't give answers directly and instead acts more as a guide, and also to make it understand who it is talking to....

What's the difference between Latitude and Streamlit?
That's amazing, thanks for sharing. For how long have you been gathering this data?
Re:We asked 100 humans to draw the DALL·E prompts on Friday May 13, 2022 @11:25AM (#31368846)
I really wanted to give this a try and guess, but unfortunately, there's the DALL-E watermark in the AI images, so I couldn't even try.

It would have been cool to also add the watermark to the non DALL-E images and then do the disclosure of what is what.

For those that don't know, the watermark is the bottom right rainbow squares.

Re:Ask HN: User Provisioning at Startups on Wednesday May 11, 2022 @12:17PM (#31342053)
I'm actually building a simple tool that allows you to provision accounts, manage permissions and delete accounts. I haven't figured out yet if I want to market this directly to companies, or as an API for big HR companies so that they can build this into their product offering (what sucks is maintaining all the different integrations and adding more and more, so it might make sense to offer this to other companies so that they don't have to build it themselves.

Would you be interested in a SaaS (yes, another SaaS...) with the only purpose of provisioning accounts, even though at some point (when your company grows), you will probably get a bigger more complex SaaS for handling HR?

Contact me at daniel at carmona.email if you want to talk about it.

Ask HN: How do you provision/delete accounts for employees?

When you hire someone you usually have to create accounts / give access to a lot of services (email, docs, accounting, admin panels, Github, cloud provider...)How does your company handle this? Do you have an HR person that manually onboard them? Do you use software that creates these accounts for you?Lastly, would you pay for a simple tool that does this?I think that for SMEs that don't use HR...

Ask HN: Are website analytics services still worth it?

It seems like a very high percentage of internet users have some kind of adblocker, and Safari also blocks trackers by default. So, is data you extract from those services still relevant? Is it better to build your own tools that don't depend on loading external scripts? If not, how do you solve this issue?

Ask HN: Is CSS in JavaScript worth it?

I've read dozens of articles where people compare different CSS in JS solutions, but very very few actually explain WHY you should switch to CSS in JS in favor of just plain old CSS.I am doing a lot of frontend development with javascript and I am still not convinced that having my styles in the javascript is worth it.I hope someone can explain me why, in their experience, switching to CSS in...

Re:NPM: 429 Too Many Requests on Monday February 17, 2020 @08:11AM (#22347404)
If this is causing production CI/CD pipelines to fail, this might be a bigger issue than it seems. Has this already happened in the past with npm?
Re:Ask HN: Looking for an Alternative to Jira on Tuesday August 27, 2019 @05:04AM (#20807563)
You can give a try at Redmine. I've used it and I think the differences might be pros for some and cons for others. The UI is, in my opinion, bad, and it lacks some features from Jira. That being said, since it's open source (coded in Ruby), you can personalize it, add your own features (or others that are already out there) and host it yourself. At the same time there's a lot of hosting companies that do that for you if you don't want to play this kind of game. Using hosting services usually makes it a lot more complex to add your own features though!
Re:What Winning $250k at Poker Taught Me About Money on Thursday March 28, 2019 @04:12AM (#19510276)
Being best friends with some of the best in the world (+1M earnings) I really want to emphasize this. I've seen my friends be happy after loosing a hand that would have won them an extra 70k in a tournament and really mean it when they say: I'm happy because I played that well, no matter the outcome. It's all about playing a lot. Eventually, statistics pay off.

Ask HN: Best book for every topic

I recently came across a book that I would have never thought I would enjoy. It's a book on men fashion that is supposed to be THE book (Dressing the man). As I love learning about every topic I can (my name here must tell you something, philomath), I was wondering if people could, for their fields of expertise, share the one and only book that you should read to learnabout that topic.Examples...

I love a comment in the Reddit post where a user asks if he takes feature requests and proposes one (triple click on text to select it). The guy, shortly after, answers saying that it's a good idea, and that he just implemented it.

I don't love it because of the attitude of the developer (which is great too), I love that it reminds me how fast it is to solo develop something and how much more complicated it gets when a team grows.

(We are a small team of 15 devs in my company and it's already super complicated to be that efficient)

Ask HN: What are the largest Open Source React apps?

I've been working in a React app that is growing really fast. More than libraries, what worries me the most is file structure.I found an old reddit link (2 ya) showing some examples, but only Calypso (from WP) is a good example. The others are small and old. https://www.reddit.com/r/reactjs/comments/496db2/large_open_source_reactredux_projects/Do you have any recommendations on file structure...

Re:The Effect of Sleep on Happiness on Thursday July 19, 2018 @02:30AM (#17564293)
To me what really matters is not how many hours of sleep I get but how difficult it is for me to wake up. I've found that there is a direct relation between this and my happiness.

In periods where I am very productive, I have a reason to wake up, I know what I want and need to do. Then I'm very happy, life has a purpose. It doesn't matter how many hours I sleep.

In the other hand, when I amb lost and don't know what I should be doing that day, I have a very hard time waking up.

Re:Color: From Hex codes to Eyeballs on Tuesday April 10, 2018 @04:36AM (#16799914)
Very interesting! I think you have a powerful base for building posters on the fly. Take image A, crop the background, take the colors from your algorithm and use the ones that the regular algorithm wouldn't consider (the ones that stand out more but appear in less quantity) for generating headers and subheaders of the poster. You have a color balanced algorithm made poster with just an image and a background as an input from the user.
Agree with all, but I would add a really important one that in itself could already justify using a FP.

- because (good) fountain pens are like good watches. You love your FP, you take care of it and you enjoy every moment you see it and use it.

Mechanical watches also have downsides, but a mechanical watch owner just loves the watch for a lot of other reasons that compensate by far the downsides.

Really enjoyed the article. I don't do ML but I'm a React Developer, so I was interested in reading the article cause it said React Native. To my surprise, I read it entirely, understood most of it, and best of all, React wasn't part of it until the very last part. I encourage you to write more posts like this, I learned a lot.
Re:Ask HN: What's your email setup? on Tuesday January 23, 2018 @05:33AM (#16212413)
I use namecheap for email hosting. A while ago I read quite a lot and it was my preferred option. Maybe there is something better now. Regarding your other concern, although theoretically they shouldn't map my custom email with my usage of chrome or Google maps, I have to admit that most likely they can do some correlations and target me anyway. Still, they will not know about what I buy or where I go (flight emails etc)I, and that's already something.
I don't understand why Instagram would ban the company from ever advertising again. To be honest, if I was the one that got tricked, all I would think of is how awesomely they tricked me.
Re:Ask HN: First laptop you had without optical drive? on Wednesday October 25, 2017 @05:17PM (#15554364)
wow! Nice laptop. How expensive was this back then?
Re:Ask HN: First laptop you had without optical drive? on Wednesday October 25, 2017 @04:58PM (#15554208)
Mine was very recent... A 2016 macbook pro. I hope I can find someone who had something from like 2005 or something like that.

Ask HN: First laptop you had without optical drive?

I was surprised to search on google and not being able to easily find the first laptop ever to not have an optical drive built in after CD'S were invented and all computers used them. I'm curious to see who can name the oldest model here in HN to omit it.
