Re:I use AI (Oct 2026) on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @07:45PM (#50360226)
In my experience, it's very good at following standards, so good in a structured project. Not so much in a freeform project where things get out of hand pretty quick.
Re:Show HN: I made live co-op Minesweeper games on Tuesday March 18, 2025 @10:29AM (#43399874)
played as "birch", here's my first impressions and feedback

- my play style was definitely limited by the "2 actions per second" limit (I had to actively control my pace), and also disrupted by the info tooltip appearing over the cells I want to click when those extra fast clicks happen to be towards the bottom

- placing a mine counts as an action, which incentivizes farming hunting mines while letting others explore for you if you're aiming for points, this also is counterintuitive to how high-level minesweeper efficiency works (you usually ignore mines that are obvious to let the autofill work in the end to save time)

- I agree that the point system (especially the 2x round win bonus) steers the game towards competitiveness rather than cooperation

- mistakes, specifically left-clicking mines, could be more punitive: maybe outright switch the player to a different room if they "explode", which could encourage "safer" gameplay

- otherwise pretty fun! I think it's a solid foundation to build more modes and features on

Re:How far can you go by train in 5h? on Sunday August 21, 2022 @05:27AM (#32538599)
It is, but only from "Paris Nord", for which you have to zoom in and pick right next to "Paris Est". There are 4 or 5 train stations to pick from in Paris depending on your destination, and I'm guessing the added interchange time affects results (despite Paris Est and Paris Nord being basically 10 minutes walking distance for instance).
On the topic of engaging and active discovery, a good portion of my music library has been built through playing Guitar Hero, Rock Band or Clone Hero, funnily enough.

I may look into pursuing a side project next year along the lines of rhythm gaming and inspiration from current music tech: discovery might not be a strange goal to pursue in that domain. In any case, that Twitter thread couldn't have come at a better time for my own brainstorming.

Re:Browser Fingerprinting Without JavaScript on Friday October 29, 2021 @05:04PM (#29043524)
I seem to be able to change the fingerprint through triggering a fetch in the JS console on every `/signal/...` url found in the stylesheet while it is "gathering data". I'm guessing that adding some randomness on the fetches in an extension could probably fool CSS-based fingerprinting, granted you're handling all `url()`s found in all CSS... which is pretty overkill.

But then again, AdNauseam exists https://adnauseam.io/

Re:The Future of PHP on Tuesday October 15, 2019 @04:30AM (#21256571)
Curious on how much of the 34% actually uses PHP >= 7.

As long as there's legacy, PHP jobs are not going to run out for sure, that's a given. I wouldn't exactly mind carrying a project in PHP >= 7, but I wouldn't wish to get a job in PHP < 7 territory personally.
