I would love to see work as described in the article leading to the ability to analyse and quantify the output of journalistic outlets in terms of political bias, accuracy and depth of reporting.
If we had a tool like this, maybe we'd be able to move away from some of the emotive language that we use when talking about outlets like the Mail.
For a moment I thought you were calling the Mail "a great paper", but actually the simple language used by it is probably quite good for this purpose.
Of course, it does mean that if you ask Deep Mind about the cause of anything negative it will probably tell you "immigrants".
If your layout system's site looks like complete arse on a major browser like IE, your layout system deserves to be ignored.
I'm not a morning person either, but you can always ask the organizer to change the time. If you've agreed to meet at 9, stay true to your word.
Thank you for sharing your reasons for downvoting, but you're wrong. I did read the article, I do understand their plans and I didn't have a failure of imagination. It's cool tech, and I made a flippant joke in response to someone's comment.
Demoing that you can (partially) dissolve something in acetone or even water is not terribly impressive, even if their self-folding and mode of locomotion is pretty cool.
Flossing is actually less important than most people think. It's far more important to thoroughly brush your teeth, to the extent that most of the time that people spend flossing would be better off used for brushing.
Flossing doesn't protect against caries, but can provide some benefits for gum health.
Sounds like a good (but dirty) move if they want to purchase it cheap.
Yep, once it's done it can just navigate to the nearest acetone reservoir in the body.
People have been watching movies at 24fps for so long that they've been trained to put their brains into movie mode and suspend their disbelief when they see something at that rate.
There were similar outcries at the advents of colour movies and "talkies". Once people have watched a few HFR movies, I'm sure they'll get used to it and learn how to suspend their disbelief again.
I would love to have something like this as a dynamic desktop background.
I always thought "stirred not shaken" would have fit Bond rather better, not just because it leads to a better drink, but because it could be taken as a statement about his attitude.
With a minimum ping of 371600ms, even surfing the web would be a pain in the arse.
You're not comparing like-for-like: Samsung, LG and Microsoft all produce other devices that come with less than 32GB of space. If you need 32GB, Apple provides a device for that (as do other manufacturers). If you don't need that much but want an Apple device, you can buy a 5C.
Escape was probably the weakest of all the MI games and hasn't aged as well Grim Fandango or any of the other MI games due to its art style and the early 3D engine.
The Curse of Monkey Island still looks amazing (if low-res), as does Full Throttle. I'd love to see the return of big-budget games with 2D art.
Yep, HERE is the brand that replaced Nokia Maps, and before that it was Navteq. They're part of the remnants of Nokia - the parts that MS didn't buy.
I think they have apps on pretty much all devices now, and now that they are no longer part of a company that's making Windows Phones, I imagine they're probably putting more effort into Android and iOS than they were before.
I've noticed the same. I get the impression that the stronger the network signal, the better the battery lasts - I assume because the radio has to increase the power with which it communicates with the tower when the signal is weak.
I was once in a car that was pulled over at a speed trap in northern England, and noticed that they had guns on their hips. When asked, the officer said that they manned low-priority things like speed traps the majority of the time that they were on duty so they could rapidly respond to any firearms-related incidents. With how few of those we typically have, it sounds like an incredibly boring job.
I think the word you were looking for was "carbohydrates", not "hydrocarbons". They're not the same thing.
It's pretty good for staying in touch with people who you wouldn't regularly contact on an individual basis.
That depends on how stable their server requirements are. EC2 comes into its own when it comes to scalability.
Uh, why does it look like this comment thread got lost and ended up on the wrong article?
Thanks for the clarification.
I think Jolla has HERE maps as well, which would make sense given the history of the companies.
You should all move to Yammer like those of us who transferred to MS :)
This is the sort of tool that will find loads of uses in different areas if it's cheap, portable and flexible.
I can imagine engineers using it to examine materials, plant scientists looking at plant growth or builders using it to find out where different things are located in walls.
