To be honest most LLM's are reasonable at coding, they're not great. Sure they can code small stuff. But the can't refactor large software projects, or upgrade them.
FYI closing this gate has a huge economic impact and is left over to machines. The reasoning is a person living in the country would close this gate by fear of loosing families etc, here CODE decides when the time is right to close or stay open. It uses a lot of data to monitor and predict the weather.

Re:Show HN: Fine-tune your own Llama 2 to replace GPT-3.5/4 on Tuesday September 12, 2023 @06:04PM (#37489185)
just curious would it be possible to add a small network perhaps a books of study material like programming books. freeze the weights of the existing large network, and combined with the new network try to predict the book. The existing networks know language but not the content, the combined network will be trained on the content, and eventually toegther they score better, These "small" added networks might just be specific towards a certain topic (ea learn python or so). Then these small networks can be become modular. esesentially creating some kind of lora networks for LLM's.

Maybe start this way from the ground up, so you can get modular units, for health, finance, programming, education, writting assitance, phyloophy, ethics etc etc. If the modules can be changed, then one might be able to reduce their seize. Ea pick 2 or 3 chain them and one has a LLM for a specific area of interest. (reducing running cost)

Linux originated from Finland, Blender from the Netherlands, Siemens Germany, Beckhof Germany. VLC is from France, so. Notepad++ french again. Irfranview also Europese. I actually don't use American software a lot. I do use android and windows and Linux and apple but I guess the best software i use is European.
Does anyone know a public URL to test it
Re:Sexual loneliness: A neglected public health problem? on Thursday January 26, 2023 @12:49PM (#34535499)
Without or with it leads to all kind of emotional problems. So to be alone isnt that bad.

And relations are not always about sex, the most stable relations are based upon understanding and care friendship. Sure sex is something but after the kids do people still want to live like rabbits, well there much more in life than sex. The media might make you think peole have sex every day or so, thats bullshit some relations are not based on sex at all but are by all means perfect relastions. (some people dont enjoy sex, or because of medical reasons).

If you want a happy life enjoy other peoples smile, go to places where people smile, enjoy your life yourself visit places. There is no perfect face or figure. And stay away from people who build their life on consumables as drugs or alcoholics a its reciepe for disaster.

Dont try to search for it, not online either, accidents just happen ;)

How about a deep difusion model, generating a road movie, with a tesla AI trying to drive it, put in a taxi and let people pay for a never ending drive.
Re:Ask HN: Does web design business still work? on Wednesday September 14, 2022 @01:27PM (#32840372)
Hm well all the old website framework bugs and updates, a rabbit hole that puts away a generations of developers without much progress. (those are still the main websites) Luckily copilot will improve. Its a bit of a shameful waste of labor force.
// comments would be my perfect language, write good documentation And leave the coding mostly over to CoPilot, or another AI. Although one needs to understand coding, we should work at a higher level. If you cannot write a good CoPilot prompt, i wouldn't accept you as colleague, if you cannot describe code your unable to properly write your own thoughts, makes you a team disaster. The language itself thus becomes less relevant these days, and the years to come.

Computing neural nets isnt something a CPU is optimized for (matrix calculations), This tech is based on gpu optmized LSTM's, acka Transformers, they can run on cuda, reducing time. GPU's perform those calculations fast for huge matrixes. Doing it on a CPU (they're no good in fat matrix caclulations) it takes forever. And yes.. essentially those neural nets are extreme huge matrixes with some predictive math in between.
Re:Why are systems languages always overly complex? on Wednesday August 10, 2022 @10:12AM (#32412285)
And Python is a great macro language for c / c++, brings back the point why is the use of higher levels language not more common, afterall who still does assembler these days (and c++ is heavily background optimized for asmblr as well).
Kinda understand in the old days developers were engineers, we solved it, by code and by machines / computers. You had a good idea of the problem, had experience, knew the best ways to to visualize a gui around it. Then companies got addicted to scrum, micro management, only minimal changes allowed, nothing radical to change, and old code got over engineered, to complex for what a user realy wants, driven by marketing selling points that never got sold anyway. I've seen this so many times, while all side projects where you were in that old full control went great. Then you get blamed "you dont fit the company..." Companies rarely take a look in the mirror, has the main project become a nightmare sinking ship instead of you (only a few believe in it).

The problem is I think scrum to many people involved, to many people want to say, (not knowing the engine), good software usually has good dictators leading it positively without needs for scrum (or minimal).

Good coder (i noticed) usually are intelligent people to have nice conversations with, will write elegant code, and love to share their ideas, as if it were readable books you would like to talk about.

The poor coders are extreme focused on "their" code knowing it all and there is no argue about it, they feel talking about code is a waste of time, see sorry about their faults and laugh about others people misstakes. Above all they protect their position in the company, (it might be better if they changed jobs) but on every company we have those people, not open to ideas, new aprouches new solutions.. you just dont fit in they say...

If the WHOLE scrum process takes a coder more than hour a day, its gone wrong IMO (and yes most often this goes wrong because their so "experienced", while you've seen way more companies failing just like them)

Re:Would you leave a company for terrible code? on Friday July 01, 2022 @11:26AM (#31947733)
if they indeed went for what i got a job opening to upgrade their code, but i was never put to work of refactoring re-writing, while their code depth is huge. Getting blamed of coding slow with 'their' code (an obvious result of their mesh). I feel kinda lurked into a death trap, the code gives me real headaches. I put in extra pauze moments just trying to deal with it, but its a nightmare. Dont think i would like to live on like this for another year.

java / javascrip is a hell its starts as fun until you do it a few years. there is a wow factor in all web tech its best to choose something stable and less wow, stick to proven reliable maintainable and proper coding design.

I dont think its a really good site, though it has something. It has that classic look like commercials had in the age of the titanic. Location of text and places and various uses of type fonts, they did that better in the old days. You're probably an ART deco fan, i think thats ok'e it could empathize you branding... but just don't make it to wild with your text.

As for animation, movies yes, why not? (people rather watch TV then a painting). A animated art deco can be great, get in contact with blender community perhaps there are great artists to find there or on other communities..

advertisement as webcontent is the modern spam. I wouldn't be surpriced if this is now the majority of all internet traffic. It used to be that spam was email related and the major internet traffic.
