There are copy/paste buttons on Gboard, but they're kind of hidden. Press the 4 squares in the top left of the keyboard and select Text Editing. You get arrow keys, a button for toggling select, and cut/copy/paste. In a way it's like switching out of insert mode in vim.
The language is Dutch, the collection of dialects spoken in the Flanders region is Flemish. If you're feeling charitable, you can refer to it as a language variant.

Here is the constitution of Belgium: https://www.senate.be/doc/const_nl.html Articles 2 and 3 define the Flemish (Vlaamse) community and region. Article 4 defines the language areas and specifically mentions Dutch (Nederlands), not Flemish.

See also: the Dutch Language Union (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_Language_Union) being founded on a treaty between the Netherlands and Belgium.

For a language that's derived from Dutch but now its own proper language, try Afrikaans.

The big difference here is that the bloom filter implementation runs entirely client-side. It saves a roudtrip per search.

You may have Gateron Clears, which are lighter than Gateron Browns. Gateron Browns are basically equivalent to Cherry MX Browns, but Gateron Clears are entirely different from Cherry MX Clears. This has tripped me up more than once.
Regardless of how the court case turns out, I can't see this whole affair ending well for Grsecurity. They need good PR with the exact people that are likely to side against them in this matter.

That's how the Snapchat Spectacles work: one side contains the camera, bluetooth and other electronics, the other side contains the battery.
Here's one to add to your list: https://github.com/lucy/tewi-font
Re:Horcrux: A Password Manager for Paranoids on Monday June 19, 2017 @10:10AM (#14587072)
The trick of entering a dummy username and password, which is then modified in the post request sounds a whole lot better than playing clipboard roulette or messing with the DOM.
vim-airline requires you to use a patched font that replaces certain little-used unicode characters with shapes that airline uses to draw its UI. Specifically, those < and > looking dividers in the airline statusline. Although it's totally possible to use airline without this and it will look only slightly less fancy.

So... Atom, Spotify, Black Screen, Slack & Discord, GitKraken. "Soon" is now.

Re:Show HN: AdBlock detection by abusing the streaming parser on Tuesday January 10, 2017 @07:23AM (#13364312)
Interesting concept, but I don't expect it to be used commercially anytime soon, because of how slow it makes the page load.

Then again, maybe your site being annoyingly slow for people who block ads is a feature rather than a bug.

Re:Superintelligence: The Idea That Eats Smart People on Friday December 23, 2016 @05:27AM (#13244062)
We already have software that can change on its own. Neural nets are software too, and with things like backpropagation they can update their weights, essentially changing themselves.

I'm not saying that this level of change is enough to get the disaster scenarios that Bostrom talks about, but it's a folly to say that self-changing software can't possibly exist.

Re:Superintelligence: The Idea That Eats Smart People on Friday December 23, 2016 @05:06AM (#13243992)
>Have you ever programmed any piece of software that suddenly implemented features of its own?

I'm not sure what particular fear mongers you're talking about, but Bostrom and the like are talking about software that's specifically made to change and improve itself on a fundamental level.

I could very well be missing some aspect, but I'm not really seeing the added challenge here. Tic Tac Toe is easily solved, and playing this game by selecting the optimal 2 moves in regular Tic Tac Toe seems to be the best (and obvious?) strategy, which means that the entire game just comes down to who wins the critical coin toss.

I don't actually see where there's any strategic decision to be made but if I'm wrong about this I'd love for someone to point it out.

Re:Learn X in Y minutes on Friday November 11, 2016 @11:46AM (#12932237)
The site doesn't quite live up to the title — you're not actually going to completely learn a language using it — but it's very neat nonetheless. I find that it works well to get a quick feeling for a language that I'm considering to pick up, or as a refresher on the syntax of a language I haven't used in a bit.
Re:Pastejacking on Tuesday May 24, 2016 @03:31AM (#11759592)
It's not something that vim explicitly allows, it's a side-effect of running the editor in a terminal. When you paste into a terminal, it's as if the keys are actually being pressed, rather than just text inserted.

The proper way of pasting into vim, which doesn't have this problem, is "+p (as mentioned in the article).

HexChat is a pretty great free client for Windows. It's basically XChat.
Re:A Good Vimrc on Saturday October 10, 2015 @09:14AM (#10365393)
Rebinding jk to escape because escape is too far away seemed like a fairly ugly hack to me, especially because you can't type it anymore without waiting.

Why not simply rebind caps lock to escape? Caps lock is used awfully little, considering how prominent its position on the keyboard is. On Linux, you can rebind it by adding

  setxkbmap -option caps:escape
to your .profile. If instead of an additional escape you prefer it to be swapped around, use

  setxkbmap -option caps:swapescape
This is perhaps the most impactful change on my vim workflow.
Re:Bunnyhopping from the Programmer's Perspective on Sunday February 15, 2015 @05:06AM (#9052223)
It really is a bug which has evolved into a feature. Portal 2 features bunnyhopping, and it was released more than 10 years after the first games to feature it, so you can assume they put it in intentionally.

It gives skilled players an edge, without being completely broken, so it seems like a good way of balancing your game to me.

Welcome to the future!

Same here. More and more websites seem to target only Chrome (or Webkit), it's the IE6 situation all over again.
Re:Captchas are Becoming Ridiculous on Wednesday June 25, 2014 @02:07PM (#7945711)
^ This is the way to go. Don't waste any energy on the "unknown" word, just fill out the one that has been smeared out and fill in bogus for the rest.

If you want to post on 4chan and don't have a Pass, you need to solve a captcha for every single post. It becomes easier with practice, I fail maybe 1 in 10 captchas. And the more captchas you solve correctly, the easier the captchas for your IP get.

Re:Bash [ -z hello ] on Wednesday June 25, 2014 @01:59PM (#7945650)
This is pretty awesome, but I don't know if people often phrase their queries like that, and I'm not sure whether it's worth it to start phrasing it like this. It doesn't seem to support more complex bash queries, so I'm not really sure how often this will be used.
Re:Swiftkey Keyboard Android is now free on Wednesday June 11, 2014 @09:26AM (#7877854)
If you have App Ops you can prevent any app from phoning home, or just gathering sensitive data in the first place (although you can't stop a keyboard from storing your keystrokes).
Re:Brendan Eich becomes Mozilla CEO on Monday March 24, 2014 @02:12PM (#7460068)

As far as I can tell, it's basically a modernised version of Yahoo Answers.
