It's wildly insulting, defamatory, and detached from all reality on several levels, to classify Rust as snake oil.
Do you drink black or green tea? L-Theanine can make you have vivid dreams.
Melatonin also comes as a supplement.
What do you think makes you have these vivid dreams?

Hey HN,My ears always perk up when I hear about some interesting technologies. For example, I'm fascinated by real-time facial action analysis, DNA digital data storage, nuclear phone batteries, SS7, brain-computer interfaces, power analysis, and so on. These technologies may not make the headlines as often as artificial intelligence, but I still think they are very interesting.I'm curious to...

Understood. Enjoy your break, you deserved it.
Great job, loved the book. Is there a plan for another one, perhaps this time focusing on compilers?
Why do you think these books are interesting?
To clarify, the praiseful comment made me curious and I wanted to know what's so good about the book, so I went through the Table of Contents and noticed that the physical layer is missing. I was just trying to point out that this layer is equally important as others for someone looking to gain a good grasp of networking.
No. Why would I? I was merely commenting on the "best textbook out there to learn modern networking."
Just skimmed through the Table of Contents. There doesn't seem to be even a word on the physical layer.
When it comes to the networking theory, you can't go wrong with Andy Tanenbaum's book.
If you want to go deeper into this, there is the Manual that describes the action units and how to measure them, but you'll also want to read about how specific emotions manifest in humans. For that, some other Ekman's books are useful, in no particular order:
- Unmasking the Social Engineer: The Human Element of Security by Christopher Hadnagy, Paul Kelly F. & Paul Ekman (2014)
- Unmasking the Face: A Guide to Recognizing Emotions From Facial Expressions by Paul Ekman & Wallace V. Friesen (2003)
- Emotions Revealed: Recognizing Faces and Feelings to Improve Communication and Emotional Life by Paul Ekman (2003)
- Telling Lies: Clues to Deceit in the Marketplace, Politics, and Marriage by Paul Ekman (1992)
- Emotion in the Human Face: Guidelines for Research and an Integration of Findings by Paul Ekman, Wallace V. Friesen, Phoebe Ellsworth, Arnold P. Goldstein & Leonard Krasner (1972)
- What the Face Reveals: Basic and Applied Studies of Spontaneous Expression Using the Facial Action Coding System (FACS) (2nd Edition) by Paul Ekman, Erika L. Rosenberg (2005)
- Why Kids Lie by Paul Ekman (1989)
Facial Action Coding System.

Hey HN,I'm trying to think of some skills that give you the edge over others, either in a professional setting, or everyday life. In my eyes, those would be multilingualism, FACS, and having a thorough understanding of cognitive biases and logical fallacies.
I'm leaning towards having a mastery-oriented (as opposed to performance-oriented) goal orientation. As such, I'm always focused on working to improve myself in a wide variety of things. There are no big goals for me, only directions. That said, I'm satisfied with the delta of where I'm at now minus where I had been this time last year. And, the direction I'm headed looks promising.
As the sibling comment says: my VPS is always on, and I can SSH into it from any of my machines, reattach to the screen session, and talk under the same nickname. Besides this, I'm never offline (barring things like netsplits). I'm not doing it for security reasons, although it does provide a level of indirection if your goal is to not expose your home IP address to everyone (getting a cloak is also useful when it comes to this).
I can wholeheartedly recommend a terminal IRC client (e.g. irssi) in a screen session running on a VPS.
