Surprised Pikachu Face

Seriously nothing new or shocking about this piece. Spying is spying. Surveillance is surveillance. If you've watched the news at all in the past 2 decades, you know this is happening.

Anyone who assumes that any new technology isn't going to be used to target the masses by increasingly massive and powerful authoritarian regimes is woefully naive.

Another post stating what we all already know isn't helping or fostering any meaningful conversation. It will just be rehashes. Let me skip to the end here for you:

There is nothing we can do about it. Nothing will change for the better.

Go make a coffee or tea

Luckily, it is clearly marked on the GOG store pages which games are and aren't DRM free.

Ask HN: What are your "Must Have" utility apps on macOS?

I finally bought in to the apple m-series hype and picked up an M1 Pro Macbook Pro refurbished. It seems like everyone has a load of different utility and QOL apps that they use to help make MacOS more usable for them. What are your go-tos, and how do you make use of third party MacOS apps and tweaks day to day?

Elevator Pitch:

I am a ambitious, open-minded, knowledge-absorbing-sponge of a young IT professional that is looking to sink my teeth into something interesting. I did helpdesk/Jr Admin stuff for a small company for about 3 years before I had to make the tough decision to pursue a position that offers actual benefits (Retirement/Health Insurance). The opportunity I was presented with was not in an IT position, rather leaning on my BBA credential and Data Analytics experience. I have learned through trial and error that a lot of my personal happiness came from being able to exercise my interests and passion in technology every day, and I would love to be able to return to that.

I graduated college with a BBA in Information Technology in 2020, have completed a cybersecurity bootcamp, and got my Security+. I also homelab in my spare time.

I'm looking for an opportunity that will let me learn and grow quickly, especially somewhere with a mentor program. System Administration, Security Analyst, etc.

Ask HN: What hardware are you running for your home server?

Obviously interested in all of it, but here is what I am rally trying to solve:I live in an apartment, so unfortunately I cannot run full fat rack mounted equipment for space, heat, and noise reasons. Also, a partner who isn't keen on the sight of itI was thinking maybe some small thinkcenter or dell micro PCs + a NAS (Thinking QNAP because they are cheaper). Lower TDP would be great too.
