I think a guy selling his own bible is more fishy.

Or a million dollar lottery ticket if you vote republican.

Or Oracle buying news stations and papers with the son of president.

But that's just my opinion

Re:Software may be getting worse, but it used to be horrible on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @09:53AM (#50259360)
My accountant made a web app with Claude.

I'm truly horrified all that data is online somewhere synced from external sources in 1 dump.

On the end he said to me: you don't seem impressed...

He didn't knew a thing he was talking about technically. Barely even the db used ( postgres).

He mentioned sha256 for passwords, but doesn't know rainbow tables exist. If I would mention it to him to use a salt, he would probably break every login.

He has no dev and no test environment. Doesn't know about pr's, but he was proud he says he uses git and he "made" it.

It's under "NDA" and his step brother is checking it. Lol

Okay, I'm just a bit suprised that I missed this.
Tbh. I think it's on purpose though. Blocked too and almost never encounter a block ( Chrome - Windows)

Re:3rd Yandex Cloud Data Center Was Hit on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @05:17AM (#50084678)
Companies are valued on their potential. Yandex growth was 70% last quarter, Nebius was 454%. Nebius makes deals with Microsoft, Meta, ...

While Yandex could go bankrupt very soon ( 2-3/5 dc's closed, apps not working, robots not working, payments not working, maps show everyting in rivers and oceans, ...).

Nebius is currently going after their best growth driver. Can't blame them.

Re:3rd Yandex Cloud Data Center Was Hit on Monday October 12, 2026 @04:38PM (#50062714)
Doesn't seem tiny?

Nebius market cap is 57 billion.

Yandex is 65 billion.

Nebius focuses on AI infrastructure worldwide, Yandex focused on being a Google competitor in Russia ( if it survives it's DC's being destroyed).

Russias GDP is basically Italy.

There's an opening through the Kuril Islands.

Russia is recently bluffing a bit there, Putin had a visit for the first time recently, I think it's China related:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuril_Islands_dispute

China is already owning the area with investments and a lot of workers/projects there are already Chinese. Seems like Russia already lost control ( unofficially)

Re:3rd Yandex Cloud Data Center Was Hit on Sunday October 11, 2026 @02:26PM (#50046244)
China currently cares most about the East till the natural resources.

The East because they are blockaded at sea currently, if they would invade Taiwan.

And they already have huge economical leverage there.

Russia is basically falling apart. But in a dictatorship, stuff like that is only seen sudden, when it collapses.

Putin seems to be making many of the mistakes of pre 1991.

Yandex is now Nebius. It's a lot in the news with AI.

The Yandex that stayed in Russia is a ghost of the past.

> Also to me, as a Russian immigrant, protesting from another country doesn't make a lot of sense.

Thought the same.

Many Ukrainians ( including men) are living in Europe.

They haven't forgotten Russias role for the century of humiliation either.

Russia is economically becoming a vassal state just like north Korea is.

Well, that's pretty big news actually.

US is basically doing economic warfare and bullying against everyone else ATM :)
Re:Example.com Just Launched the Biggest Redesign in Decades on Monday October 05, 2026 @10:45PM (#49973553)
Well, it's a popular website. By using Cloudflare I think they will save a lot of bandwidth and traffic because the page and assets can be cached.
Did anyone run their own sandbox with Kata containers out kind ( kubernetes in docker)?
Re:Cloudflare K2: serverless event streams on Thursday October 01, 2026 @12:08PM (#49923550)
That's just perception. At the same time they were hiring 1 k. People and hired 2 k. People the year before ( interns).

There was just more news about it than with other companies ( I think they let go about 2 k. People a year ago).

( Not saying it's good, just a little perception balance)

Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Thursday October 01, 2026 @08:30AM (#49920768)
Many sites deliberately whitelist Google IP's for their search crawler and ignore crawlers who just uses the Http UserAgent of GoogleBot.
Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Thursday October 01, 2026 @08:29AM (#49920761)
They have claimed publicly that they were focusing on integrating AI in their platform and that gave Claude and Open AI a head start.

See them shifting now.

Yeah, all tenders for any governement in Europe seem to prioritize EU hosting too.

Things are moving quick.

Let's get rid of US dependency for governement infrastructure as quickly as possible please.
Re:How Delhi cut electricity loss from 50 to 5 percent on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @09:27AM (#49892888)
I don't think that number is correct?

In the 39 years I live here, the only power loss was due to lightning or planned power cuts because of work in the building where I live in the last 9 years ( rare - twice).

There is however incentive for our high chemistry industry to cut the power and they get re-imbursed. This is when we have too much electricity production ( solar power) vs. consumption. Otherwise the providers have to pay "fines" to lose the overproduction of electricity to neigboring countries ( who probably all have overproduction of electricity).
