NGL, I do think that was kinda backwards of Steam. I get why they did it they way they did (incentivise big games to come to Steam), but it does kinda shaft the Indies, which need that money the most.
I'm sorry... should I not be happy when someone that says it is terrible that I own my own RAM has a terrible day???
Better analogy would be "Microwave ovens were never for injecting electromagnetic waves into food. The electromagnetic waves were just a means to heat the food".
Well, the sanest option is to not have the death penalty at all. Anything else is trying to make the problem work.
Changing TREE(2) to TREE(3) is a small change on the input, but a... lets just call it big... change in the output.
:) You can argue almost all software is a video game in some way, just gotta argue yourself a way that the definition of "video game" would include your software in some way:

Its been a while since I looked further into it, but the individual components were being built with buildstream and I think they were looking to switching the image building to mkosi with buildstream integration (from a quick look at the gnome-build-meta repo it looks like it still didn't happen).
Also a minor nitpick: I wouldn't call Flatpak a/their "dependency manager". It is more like an application manager, closer to winget than a traditional package manager.
Do note that those are en-dashes and not em-dashes.
London according to Google has 9 mil people. So "dozens per person", 9 mil people and 1 mil cameras does not add (or rather multiply) up.
eBPF programs do run at kernel level, but don't have the same full access that a kernel driver would have, they are limited to the APIs that are available for the subsystem they are loaded for. And they can (usually) be unloaded.
The "Does EAC Linux v2 use a kernel driver?" does feel slightly misleading, especially considering the API stability guarantees are also the same as regular kernel drivers, but the "Does EAC Linux v2 run in the background all the time?" doesn't necessarily feel misleading to my understanding.
No, for a system and service management layer.
> - They give out free games every week. Sometimes they are AAA games like Hogwarts Legacy
That a sizeable chunk of people still buy on Steam because the experience of using the Epic Games Launcher is so abysmal[0]. And I mean the experience that isn't just fixed by a fresh coat of paint, you actually need features added to fix all the interesting missing stuff from Steam.
Also, I don't think I trust anything vibecoded with my credit card/paypal/<insert-other-money-management-stuff>.

More like going under a police department post barging about how many criminals they apprehended and reminding everyone the police department killed 5 innocent people in the last week.
On a lot of Android devices you can't install ANY other custom OS because of locked down bootloaders. If you want GrapheneOS specifically that list is even narrower due to 1. official support 2. hardware security features just missing from the devices.
3000 really isn't that much if you think about how much it is used and how relatively extensive it is. Though the 3000 is also not just bugs but also feature requests (only ~800 are marked as bugs and 1.5k are marked as feature requests).
As comparison libarchive is sitting at ~300 open issues and LLVM is sitting at ~30k. Both also being really important in their own ways.
> Powershell is, as I understand it, not available on Linux but is omnipresent on Windows
Do note that Windows Powershell and Powershell are NOT the same. The following does work in Powershell, but not Windows Powershell.
echo hello && echo hello
Specifically Windows Powershell does not support `&&` or `||` (the main difference I immediately notice) and probably a lot of other things are different.
> Le Chaton Fat
I've read it a few times and I always processed it as "Le Chateau Fat" ("The fat castle"), which I guess also kinda works. I guess it is mostly because my french is so rusty I forgot (or maybe never learned?) what chaton meant.
You forgot to that it needs to create a DIN norm for any new technical creations.
> WSL and NSL do not, and that's my preference.
To be fair, WSL mounts all your drives under /mnt/ by default, which I would argue isn't any better, arguably even worse.
> not really, Germans do hate electric cars as they don't go vroom vroom, there are no emotions transported while driving them
I genuinely don't know a single German that thinks like that. But that might be because I live in BW.
> in official Arch supported hardware list:
ALARM isn't official Arch, so this also isn't an "official Arch supported hardware list". Arch is currently still only x86_64 and everything else is at best unofficial if not just straight up unaffiliated.
(do note that this might change soon-ish™ considering [0], but I think they want to first get their automated build infrastructure ready)

I assume they mean that it is all already automated in the utopian society. And I would kinda agree that that would be utopian. But sadly we live in the real world where greed rules pretty much everything, meaning that it will remain an unobtainable dream for (most likely) ever.
I've got 2 links permanently in my bio on Discord. One being this and the other being
https://dontasktoask.com/. While the second one is more something that would happen in public channels, it is always handy to have the link around.
Snaps is a sure-fire way to only get used on Ubuntu. So that would be worse than distributing .rpm/.deb.
On Firefox, while F12 is intercepted you can still open it with Ctrl+Shift+E
Overwatch (as a game and as a franchise) was just straight up killed by Bobby Kotick (intentionally, and slightly unintentionally by Jeff Kaplan wanting to still build Project Titan). Since OW2 under MS its been back to being a fine game.
> What does it say about Nix, when a barely one-year old Omarchy is already more popular than it, and growing really fast?
Nothing really. Popularity does not mean quality. Some of the most popular items on the planet are complete dogshit quality, but because for example the price is low enough or "everybody else uses it" (argumentum ad populum) or the better alternative is so different to what anyone is use to, the lower quality item has become popular.
> I am in your car. I am in your maps,
This reminds me of the "I am in your walls" meme, just so much more creepy.
I really hate vehicles. But I especially hate those that aren't able to be change to an entirely local mode, with no non-GPS radio further than like 10 meters. But then again, that wouldn't make line go up since we can't charge for/control basic features, so it is becoming more and more a rarity.

> I’m surprised that there’s no domestic chip production either, we don’t have our own CPUs or GPUs, meanwhile China is spinning up manufacturing so they don’t have to work around the Nvidia export restrictions as much.
I haven't heard of updates on ESMC in a while, but that has been a thing on the horizon for a while, with production planned to start in fall 2027 last I read.
