Hackernews is always way too centered around the USA unfortunately and people keep forgetting other countries exist lol
Why would you think such a project would reimplement git?
Looks promising, let's see into what this evolves
That's just plain wrong. The new models do not hallucinate as much as they used to (in my personal experience)
I wonder if the people behind project Gutenberg use Anna's Archive or mam for books that can't be put on Gutenberg.
Did you use some sort of intrusion prevention system? I'm using cloudflare's anti ddos service + crowdsec, but I'm still getting bombarded with hundreds of thousands of requests per month
Can somebody recommend some good github alternatives that are available as a service, without having to self host it? I'm already self hosting my own gitea, but want a SaaS fallback to github
I'm not a huge fan of 1Password, there have been way too many issues in the past with it. If you're on a Mac, I can highly recommend you to check out Secretive

Bullshit article. AI is not meant to be a black box, you just spit at it and it'll generate you a whole app and you don't even understand a single line. That WILL eventually fail. There was an article here some time ago where someone described it pretty well "use AI as autocomplete on steroids". Therefore, use any language you can actually debug well and know well and use AI as a tool, not as your replacement. And don't use it to port your electron app to rust if you don't know rust, Jesus.

I've been seeing a lot of hackernews articles in the last 2 weeks talking about how people have issues with GitHub being down, Actions causing issues, people leaving GitHub, and even some building a website to show the outages as contributions. As a European user I've rarely had any issues with GitHub. I've been on GitHub for ~7 years now, and honestly, I can't recall the last time I had issues...
I don't get this at all. Is this a live view of the traffic lights, buses, and more? How do they get the data?
As a European user of github I've only had one two occasions of it being down. I guess we can just be lucky it got a better uptime while we are awake
I've also been suspended for breaking their terms and services, even though I haven't done anything wrong. It was probably my VPN. Luckily, my account got unsuspended, but I ain't using that platform anymore
Why can't people read stuff before commenting?
Does anybody know a good service to self host Ai? My graphics card is shit, I want to rent hardware to run my own models
Glad they're uploading it publicly and not to some private torrent trackers like Concertos
I hope they provide a binary without dynamic libraries so that we can use this on nixos as well
What's the difference between this and agent-safehouse?
I'm still looking forward to being able to only remember a command for a specific time. I currently block sensitive commands, which completely destroys the ability to just press the up arrow key to quickly edit the command. If we had like a timeout of 1 minute for sensitive commands, we could edit them and still make sure they are not persistent
I think most people here live too much in their tech bubble and don't realize how dumb the vast majority of people are when it comes to tech. I know that feeling myself that you lose the grip to "reality" when you are too much into tech, but after dealing a bit with "ordinary" people, I do understand why Google wants to do that.
Most people have absolutely no idea about tech at all. So many people don't even know what exactly a browser is, what a "tab" means or can't even get to install an iPad. Google mainly has to take care of these people, not people who install apps using F-Droid. Go to the streets and ask strangers if they know what F-Droid is, and if they don't, try to explain it to them.
The 24 hour wait period looks like a good trade off to me. Still allowing experienced users to install apps, but the majority of people will be protected, and it won't even affect most people.
And no, I'm not a bot or some pro Google activist, check my github account, I even use GrapheneOS myself.
I need this for hard drives
Why is the source being distributed as an archive? The whole thing smells weird. I'd be cautious. Glad I'm using a VPN right now
Sounds like a perfect data leak any% speedrun to me... :P
I'll wait till an Emacs package is available
